JULY * JULY * JULY!!! I will be so happy to visit Flagstaff and party with the Melt crew again. Are you guys having it in June and is it EDC weekend?
I believe melt in june is on the 18th, the weekend before edc.
lol, I know, I find I am not quite as picky when already drunk so I will drink anything that shows up in a shot glass. I have never liked whiskey so I am not sure why I didn't request something different.
It was still a great time, and surprisingly enough I didn't have too much of a hangover.
Curious, were any other melt guests staying at the rodeway inn on Milton? If so, and you were in room 118 :thu because apparently your world was getting rocked for hours.
Oh yeah - what is the hip/cheap hotel to stay at for Melt?
I believe the Howard Johnson that's near by is like $50 bucks a night. Not sure if there's anything cheaper.
The rodeway inn was $50 and it's also pretty close.
Not cheap, but hip...

We ate at the excellent Thai restaurant which is connected to the lobby of the hotel. They also have a martini/espresso bar and a Reagle Beagle style lounge. Room rates for the summer start at $100.
It's also only two blocks away from the venue.
I was looking at Monte Vista and it sounds awesome....did you see any ghosts higgy?
No ghosts, but I wasn't looking too hard. The place does have a bit of the Overlook vibe though.
That place looks Rad. Definitly staying there next time im in Flag.
I would just like to voice my approval for the drink prices in Arizona. They beat LA/Hollywood drinking prices by a mile so expect me to coerce some of you into taking shots with me. You can buy, like, five drinks in Flagstaff for the price of one drink in Hollywood.
Depends where you go. If you are talking about Flag then yeah you can probably find cheap drinks just about anywhere. I can assure you though if you are out in Phoenix or Scottsdale there are plenty of places you you can get raped by $9 drinks.
i've always wanted to stay at the monte vista, but it's always been pricey when i've checked.
the hojo we stayed at had exceptionally comfortable beds, and even had a small table/chairs. i really liked it. amy booked, she can post the info. like matt said, it was like $50 though.
It's the HoJo on Lucky Lane. I also stayed there the last time I went to Melt, and the room was $80 (still the cheapest room in the city - it was ski season). This time it was $54 with tax.
The Little America is pretty awesome and scary. Long hallways covered in red and gold wallpaper, and old school 70's decorations in the rooms. I kept waiting for a kid to come around the corner on a bigwheel. Not sure how much it is in the summer though.

I'm gonna try to make it up for this - sounds like it'll be good times. Haven't been to flag in a couple of years too...
best $2 you'll ever spend! :)

Some of the hotels (like the one Captn mentioned) looked amazingly awesome in their shabby 1970's decor. I'm guessing they wouldn't love huge groups of people loitering around all night though.
That hotel also has an awesome pool and spa; hotel is set on several acres of forest.
Did someone say shabby, 1970s gilded hotel decor in the middle of a forest? My awesome meter just went off.
Yep. Stay there in your next Grand Canyon jaunt. Its one of my favs. Its super luxe creepy.
I have never been to the Grand Canyon! I'm clearly long overdue.
I haven't either, Courtney! Road trip with me sometime? :)
Yes yes yessssssss.
I'm not really kidding about this. If I weren't MELTing in July, I'd do it this trip. (Seems like an event better left for cooler weather and less school kids).
