"17 Acts Likely to Play Coachella"

Friend sent me this article at work, thought it was worth mentioning although they really don't suggest anything revolutionary:

I agree with a lot of it...I almost think Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Lykke Li are a given (if they're available), they just make too much sense to not at least be highly considered (along with Adele and Florence + The Machine who are not mentioned here). Big acts with (varying degrees of) indie cred who will look impressive on the poster and draw big crowds...almost too easy of a prediction.

I liked the arguments for a lot of the likely tent bands too as those are the most difficult to predict (well, apart from headliners). I thought their tracking of labels who are successful at getting their artists booked was interesting. Holy Ghost! would be great, I can easily see The Naked and Famous happening as well. I'm sure Justice will be there, but I really disagree with them suggesting a headlining spot. Beasties I'm not too sold on.

I hope their right about Young Galaxy.

I'll have some Holy Ghost and Justice for sure. And for the record Dom really sucks...

I actually don't see this as that big of a stretch. They would certainly not headline, I think the article is off on that. However, I can see them putting Justice closing the main, especially given that a very high-profile electronic act has closed the main stage two years in a row now. I know everybody wants Daft Punk in this slot, but I think Justice is exponentially more likely.

I'm actually fine with a big electronic act ending the mainstage for either friday or saturday night.

I just want to know that The Knife will be harvesting souls in the Mojave.

My favorite part of that article is calling Fleet Foxes a "perennial favorite."

I think the Fleet Foxes are more likely to end up on the Main stage rather than The Outdoor

I like how there is an article about this 11 months before next year's fest... a lot can happen in 11 months... just sayin'.

there are a few acts not mentioned in there who have announced new albums for this year and will be touring at that time. The Cranberries - Garbage - Florence

if adele isn't there ill be mad. I have to miss her this month in utah because scalping is 100% legal here and the leftover tix are 300 dollars a piece now. Fucking scalpers

Im feeling a strong undercard of female led acts

and yes.... they could indeed play the main stage. But i dont think Coachella is going to continue the trend of the past 2 years.

I wouldn't put it past them though. They've been putting dance acts on the main stage since my first Coachella when Oakenfold played between Weezer and Jane's Addiction.

Not sure about '99 but I remember someone saying they put DJ's on the main stage in between live bands then as well.

I don't know, the arguments for most of his choices make a lot of sense to me. Seems more realistic than half the shit being put up in the Predict the 2012 Lineup thread (although admittedly less exciting).

No disrespect, but I LOL'ed at the comment of Justice being the artist that defines the Coachella demographic. I think Arcade Fire fits that bill.

Only I way I see Justice headlining is if their next album is levels beyond their previous effort in terms of creativity. But I expect redundant electro-house stuff, which I like, but not headliner-worthy stuff.

They probably don't mean headlining headlining, but more of a Tiesto/Chems slot.

I see them more as a pre-headliner unless they come up with a live production more impressive than a cross and some Marshall stacks.
