Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
at first take, and in no order:
- spoonman
- pearls girl
- moaner

some of those can be interchanged with Scribble, MMM Skyscraper, Dinosaur Adventure 3D, Rez/Cowgirl (I'll call it 1 track), Nu Train, Dark & Long, Sappys Curry, and Downpipe (does this count?).

I've read that same comment many times over from other underworld fans.

king of snake was the first underworld track i listened to after hearing cowgirl (and underworld) for the first time. cowgirl is a classic and always will be, but king of snake was really when i said to myself: "this band is something...amazing". i've never gotten tired of the track and for me it defines underworld as a creative force.

Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
Mine:
Dirty Epic, in a room with 200 people losing my fucking mind. This intro gives you the idea:
Play Pig (3), always loved the downtempo sexiness:
Lenne Penne, if you haven't heard this mixed with "Peach Tree" and "Vanilla Monkey" please immediately get your hands on UW's 2006 The Misterons Mix (all tracks from the RiverRun Series)
Confusion the Waitress, is the first song I ever listened to outside of what I've seen in other media. It was a foggy morning in Monterey, California and I fell completely in love.
Stagger, was the next song I heard. I just love the atmosphere of it.

Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
this has already been posted in this thread (by me i think) but i don't care:
this was the first thing i looked up after a thread on another messageboard asked "share some of the most intense/passionate performances of music". total goosebumps at 3:23 when the melody first starts. good way to get the day started.

I think this might prevent them from touring. Let's hope not. http://www.mixmag.net/words/news/und...-olympics-2012
UNDERWORLD MUSIC DIRECTORS FOR OLYMPICS 2012
http://www.mixmag.net/sites/default/...erworldweb.jpg
Seminal electronic music outfit Underworld have been announced as the musical directors for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
The duo made of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith complete a team of senior creatives that will lead the direction of the 2012 ceremony.
While the outfit may not seem the most obvious choice for the ceremony (yes, we were worried it would consist of sticking Brian May on the roof to play a three hour guitar solo) it comes as no surprise considering long time collaborator and cohort, Danny Boyle is at the helm.
Artistic director and film director, Danny Boyle has worked with Underworld several times over the past fifteen years including on the soundtracks to his films 'Trainspotting' and 'Sunshine' and more recently 'Frankenstein' at the National Theatre.
Karl Hyde said of the appointment, "We want to leave people with a musical memory of the show rather than a purely visual one. It's a great honour to be asked to do this and one we’re taking very seriously – it’s certainly not something we'll get the chance to do again".
So what do you think of the appointment? While the London 2012 Opening Ceremony may struggle to compete with the magnitude of the Beijing 2008 ceremony, the appointment of Underworld suggests it'll be a great showcase for true British talent and a chance to see dance music on the biggest possible stage. Let us know your thoughts.

Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
Yea.... i saw this.
Really happy for these guys though. And they've likely been working on it for a year at least. This explains all the studio posts.
-
Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
delay of a tour/album/whatever, doing the music for the olympics is a pretty fucking amazing opportunity. congrats to them.
-
Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
i know i got so excited for them, and can't imagine what this is going to end up like, but part of me hurts cause this pretty much makes them a no-go... again.
-
Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
I'm not convinced that this necessarily rules them out for this year. Why the defeatism?
-
Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
cause it's highly unlikely they'll just come do a one-off, and with the amount of time put in to orchestrating a global event as big as the olympic opening ceremony (probably one of the three biggest spectacles in the world) i imagine they won't be taking the time to tour, as the games start in july.

Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
Ehhhh. Unlikely, yes; impossible, no.
If they played both weekends (or even 1 weekend), they could easily round out a mini (1week) tour w/ NYC, SF, or Canada dates. Still a sensible financial proposition on their end.
Need to know more about this before I conclude the attendant obligations are sooo time-consuming as to make a Coachella appearance unworkable.

Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
I honestly can not wait for the massive meltdown by aurgasm when they are not on the lineup. See you at pretty lights buddy! HHHHHHHHHHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
-
Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
They have been working in the studio and travelling to London for the last year without explanation. Now it makes sense. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they had the majority of their work completed.
I wonder when dry runs for the Beijing opening ceremonies began?

Actually I'm really happy for this band and this is a great reason to not be at some shitty American festival with crowds full of tasteless brotards like you.

C'mon now Matt. I know what you REALLY mean by your post, but you love Coachella and you know it.

Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
Oh and I would pay $50 extra for a pass if it included Underworld. Pretty Lights can't even compare.

Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
Underworld 2003 set was amazing! Bring them back!
-
Re: UNDERWORLD for Coachella 2012- Show your support!
I just remember at my first Coachella in 2003 not knowing anything really about Underworld except "Born Slippy" and looking at my friend as he said, "Oh shit, they are playing 'Moaner'!" I just stared at him and said, "What the fuck is 'Moaner'?" and then had my head bashed in for the next 8 minutes. So sad that this probably won't happen again.
