I like them equally on record but Jay's set was better imo. I don't care to ever see Kanye again after this and Bonnaroo's disaster. Still a fan of him though.
kanye was shit
Jay-Z sounded like shit but Kanye was obnoxious.
Jaz-Z = WIN
I actually like Kanye better on album. But Jay-Z had a live band and thus, a better show.
Atmosphere headling the Outdoor theater in 09.
I really liked Kanye this year, but I give the nod to Jay.
Maybe I am just getting old but the whole Rhymesayers/Minneapolis/Nerd Rap/Anticon era is done for me. I know Atmosphere is still relevant but when I think of Slug, Sage Francis, Eyedea, etc., I think of the aggro ex-Wu-Tang backpacker that hates any rapper that goes out and tries to pay their bills.
People Under the Stairs killed it in 09.
kanye joined katy perry on american idol today
I liked Kanye's show but Jay-Z was better to me. I'm a sucker for LIVE music, the sound track kinda brought me down.
And Atmosphere was amazing, I'd love to see him back.
I think Jay-Z
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Dre and friends was an amazing spectacle that I'll never forget, I just wish there were a few deep individual cuts from Dre and Snoop in there. I would argue, "Til I Collapse," and "Hail Mary" were the deepest cuts in the set, and two personal highlights. "Lodi Dodi," "Keep Their Heads Ringin'," "Murder was the Case," "Let Me Ride," or "The Shiznit" all would've been great.
Tha shiznet has got to be one of my all time favorite hip hop tracks. Timeless
But especially this next one. This goes for EVERY hip hop act I've seen at Coachella. If you don't have a live backing band, your show will suffer incredibly.
Atmosphere was one of those shows where you look around and wonder who's actually enjoying it. Almost depressing =)
