Great Movie or The Greatest Movie? ? ? ?
Umm not even close
Yeah, some of the battle scenes were cool, but overall I found it kinda boring. The dialogue was awful and the plot itself was pretty mediocre. It could've been a great movie but it just didn't come through.
I just have to disagree, now I was drunk, that sayd it was the most epic movie ever made
I very much enjoyed the ride 300 gave me, it is not (and never will be) in consideration for greatest movie or most epic though.
this thread should move to the lounge unless Frank Miller or Gerard Butler dj's in their spare time, and might be the surprise guest before Justice.
This movie was amazing - I would have to say one of my Favs of all time - I loved the visuals and the battle scenes were the best since braveheart - to say the dialouge was awful is like saying the fake blood in Night of the Living Dead was cheesey. Anyone who has a bad word for this movie obviously does not know the genre. May I dare say a Perfect Movie - I think I just did!!!!
is 300 on the lineup? maybe you should post this somewhere else
You people haven't got the brains God gave a goose.
Great movie.
I'll bet there will be a rise in gym memberships across the nation in the coming weeks.
can we talk about the sex scenes? i've heard conflicting things. was there a lot of sex? was it graphic? discuss.
It was like "Ai No Corrida" crossed with "Shaving Ryan's Privates"...
Even with freeze frame you'll have difficulty rubbing one out to 300 when the DVD comes out.
Unless, you're gay, because I'm guessing there'll be a few getting off to a ripped Gerard Butler in leather speedos.
I'm just sayin'...

Now don't get me wrong, I did enjoy this movie. The cinematography was beautiful and there were some epic battles, but the film was highly flawed. The battles got rather repetitive by the end, what with the slow motion deaths over and over again. And I know that this was not a dialogue-driven movie, but c'mon, those pre-battle speeches were so contrived and cheesy. And the whole sub-plot with the queen trying to convince the council was pretty awful. She was hot, but her acting skills could use a bit of work. This movie stayed incredibly loyal to the graphic novel, which was fantastic for fans of it, but I think it honestly limited it as a film.
The only pleasurable things that led me to this movie were: Frank Miller, War movie, Soundtrack/score.
Other than that I hated it. They again tried to create the look/feel of Sin City and the storyline of Gladiator/Sparticus/[epic battle movies]. But it turned out to be a mix of not-quite Mortal Kombat worthy action and humorously forced "drama" that left me wanting someone to look at the camera and say "Uh oh, that's a lot of Persians....it's almost like we're in some bad movie...." That's what happens when you're directed by the "guy who made zombies run fast."
The scenes were beautifully shot though.
