I'm not saying that it in any way approaches the heights of their debut, but it's not the red-headed stepalbum everyone (ie the masses) makes it out to be.

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
I was going to ask which album to start with but then I realized that they've only released two.

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
I am freaking out pretty nicely about this. Watching them do the press conference all seemingly in great spirits is amazing.

Good. I wasn't the only one there. So you know what I'm thinking.

Did I just hear the phrase "writing songs"? :D :D :D

My god I love these guys.. their analogies crack me up.

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
Part II is good too
I am actually laughing out loud at this press conference... these fucking guys. :pulse

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
I'll speak for all us old geezers who where there at our local record shops when our special-ordered Stone Roses UK single orders came in, way back in 88/89. Seems like yesterday and a million years ago at the same time.
This news is pretty amazing and I am having a superb day because of it.

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
I'll speak for all us old geezers when I say I hope they have somehow improved vastly as a live band. By all means go see, but don't get your expectations too high.
-
Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
Shush.
Allegedly they were quite good live, at a time, before everything fell apart. I've got a couple of live tracks that attest to that (and admittedly a bunch that sound like shit).

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
Spike Island was good, I hear (from lots of people who were high as fuck). Every show I caught was mediocre at best. The Reading performance was up there with the Happy Mondays at Coachella (and the Roses were headlining).
-
Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
I've heard the Reading performance described many times as the worst performance ever by a reasonably well known band.
I think the band themselves would agree it was miserable... of course it was only half the band. I want to believe that they wouldn't do this if it would further destroy their reputation.... we'll see.

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
Well, it made the Stone Roses/Underworld clash that much easier. I think I watched the first 2 Stone Roses songs before heading over to catch all of a rather epic Underworld set.

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
As it was eluded to in the press conf - the pieces and parts are there, Lord knows Mani is an insane bassist. And when John put his mind to it - he's right there as well.
The wildcard has always been Ian.

Same here!!! :D I'm glad I'm not the only one. :)

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
They wanted to announce the reunion the day after the riots? Wow. What a fantastic press conference. They seemed so emotional and excited about the reunion.
-
Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
Seriously, I was excited this morning, but after watching the press conference, I am GIDDY

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
John is awfully quiet, isn't he?

Was SR Reading worse than Sly Stone Coachella?
Also, Spike Island does exist by someone that shot with with a camcorder from one fo the light towers. Probably has better sound than the audience tape that had some wind issue. Only a 2-3 minute sampler reel of the show has surfaced(not on youtube) along with the crowd and soundcheck clips(on youtube).

Nothing is worse (or comical) than Sly Stone.

I've seen several Brown solo outings and Inland was the worst by far. While the quality of his (and the Roses') are wildly erratic, that was a new low.
-
Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
his presence at inland invasion was inexplicable.

Re: Stone Roses Reunion - 2011 edition
But Morrissey's cancellation was not.
