Hodgy is the rapping half of MellowHype and a very solid lyricist in his own right, even though he is often overshadowed by Earl and Tyler. I honestly don't know much about Hodgy because he doesn't really answer questions online as much as the other members. I believe he and Left Brain were both up in San Francisco attending college until a few months ago, when they dropped out and moved back to LA so they could to direct their full attention towards music. Tyler often says he is the hardest working member of Odd Future. He is very short in person and has a lot of tattoos.



This BLACKENEDWHITE bonus track "Based", features one of his best verses (he comes in at 0:33)



I think Hodgy may like the herb...

Not even arguably, definitely. Earl hasn't played a show with them since like May I think, back when nobody even knew who they were. I've been telling you guys for a while not to expect him until late 2011/early 2012...

Tyler is fucking amazing though.

I'm a big OFWGKTA fan, but am not a big fan of Tyler. Although he has some dope verses, I really dislike his voice! I will def. be catching their set though. Kinda bummed that Earl won't be there.

Just got their Radical Mixtape and while double cheeseburger has some funny moments, there is nothing too 'rad' about them. They sound like a disorganized Wolfpack (the group that did that "vans" song). I would rather see Kid Cudi at Coachella, not these clowns.

Left Brain (real name Vyron) handles all production for the two man group, MellowHype, which also includes rapper Hodgy Beats. He also provides beats for Earl, Domo and Mike G, though not nearly as much as Tyler contributes. He has a little bit of Lex Luger in the way he patterns his hi-hats and bass drums, but he definitely has his own style. He is a big fan of slowed-down chopped and screwed southern rap beats. BLACKENEDWHITE's production definitely improved over YelloWhite, but I have a feeling that is mostly due to the kind of cheap equipment and programs he was using early on. Tyler has stated that Left Brain is in his top 3 producers of all time, along with Pharrell and James Pants.

Tyler's thoughts on "Gram" : "yeah, that song is fucking amazing. If i could choose one song to describe what Odd Future sounds like, it would be that song."

This next track is a BANGER - while the production here is top notch, this song also illustrates Left Brain's complete lack of skills on the mic (2nd verse), which is probably why he almost never raps. Tyler comes in afterwards though with a verse that sounds like what Slim Shady would have done if he had written Jay-Z's convo with the cops on 99 Problems:

Tyler is the best part about Odd Future live though. That dude goes fucking nuts. On a big stage like Coachella, I would assume he is going to bring his A-game and then some. I've never seen Earl live, but I find it hard to believe he would have half the stage presence Tyler does. However, I do hope I am proved wrong once he returns.

Definitely my #1 to see act at Coachella.

Have been obsessed for the past 6-7 months and it's been great watching Odd Future blow up worldwide.

Rolling Papers is my fav OFWGKTA album, sucks about Wiz Khalifa ripping off Domo's title for his next album.

Also why the hell do people refer to the OFWGKTA albums as mixtapes when they are clearly albums (only difference is that their not phsyically available to purchase in CD/Vinyl form).

LeftBrain is my favourite of the group, dude is cool as fuck.

Though re: EARL @ Bootcamp - I don't know about USA but in Australia when a child turns 16 years of age they have their own choice to drop out of school/leave home etc., I thought the US would of been the same?
