I have been waiting for the opportunity to post about the Cure again. That Coachella clip is great.

This is unfortunately as close as I've ever been, when seeing them, still waaay back. Simon is so entertaining to watch play.

Here is hoping they do a small US tour or at least hit up a few of the late summer festivals. Their 2009 set was pure magic.

Isn't Porl a painter or something - I heard that's really the reason why he left the Cure the first time, or was it the third time?

Yea, he's married to Robert's sister, and Simon used to be married to Porl's sister. Wonderfully incestuous. (Though actually I'm not sure that he'd met her through Porl, as Simon was in a band with her before he joined the Cure?)

Simon is a sexy motherfucker, I love the way he plays. And Porl is just amazing. Not only is he one freak but he is just mesmerizing on that guitar. Minus a few key songs I didnt mind the absence of keyboards as much as I thought I would. It means we got extra guitar sexiness.

Yeah, he has done much of the band's cover art over the years, even when he wasn't in the band. He started out with them before they even made a record, then was kicked out for not fitting in stylistically... brought back several years later, left to join Plant/Page.. brought back again, and now supposedly left again as well.

The only thing Robert's been more tightly-lipped about than the band's 2011 plans, is the current lineup of the band. Maybe no one will know until Bestival lol.

Yea I've only seen them *since* they went with the 3 guitar configuration. (Though I think they do have keyboards that either Porl or Simon play on a handful of songs). Overall the lack of keyboards makes the songs sound a little darker, grittier somehow. I like.

I've seen them twice with a full keyboard set up and it didn't sound nearly as good as the shows I saw with the 3-guitar lineup. That band was ace.

Man, I hope Porl is still in the band. If he's not they will probably tour with more synths as I doubt they could pull off many songs without Porls' dynamic guitar work.

I have Just Like Heaven as my ringtone right now and I've been missing calls left and right because I want to listen as long as I can and I keep pushing it too far and having to call everybody back. =)

Both Sasquatch and Coachella absolutely transported me to another world. Even though it felt like 20 degrees at the Sasquatch set (I didn't dress appropriately that day) and I couldn't tear myself away from the Coachella set, so my husband got to see that phenomenal Throbbing Gristle set and I missed it. Overall, worth it to watch The Cure for hours and hours each time.

I think Bloodflowers was kind of a shite record, but that's it. The rest are great.

Anyone remember that kroq show that had The Cure and Duran Duran headlining? I think Sally Bear would have had a heart attack with that line up.
