I think I'm going now... muahahahah
It used to be that that one spot like....near the ramp, above the lowered floor area was the best place for sound. Also a great place to cool off -- I remember escaping to there during Zabiela's set, drenched in sweat.
I'm deep into DEMF fever at this point. I had a dream last night that Cajmere led into MAW and I stood on the pyramid in a blaze of glory.
I'm not picky so I may venture into Electric Forest and bro it up for a bit.
I also hadn't realized our first year, but there are those VIP risers at the top of the amphitheater, which are nice if you want to watch a headlining set at the main stage, and would rather have your own space / view than just being close. I was running between those and Made in Detroit last year rather than trying to work my way down to the bottom of the crowd.

will sell out soon
Or that Moodymann roller disco? Is that happening again?
I would say, with not much authority, that there seems to be a lot less after parties this year. Counting parties on last year list shows about 75 parties from Thursday to Monday night. Right now the current list is only at about 23 or so.... So unless 50 some parties get posted in the next few weeks it may be slim pickin's
Less parties for me to not go to.
What time do bars close in Detroit?
Technically 2 but there are licenses to apply for the bars to stay open until 4. The Works is the only bar that somehow skirts those laws and is always open way late. Also some of the art galleries can apply for some other type of license to stay open late too. Whether or not the promoter does any of the above or if the cops will care is always the risk with parties that go late.
Need I Say More will happen. They never post information more than a couple of weeks before the festival (there are no pre-sales).
The only DEMF party I've been at that was going to stop serving at 2AM was Bookie's.... I know for sure TV Lounge tries to serve straight through, but then, they do seem to get shut down every year, don't they? (Not that that stops them from re-opening at 6AM). Always get the impression that it's just a matter of greasing some palms.
I need a replacement Sunday morning party if Shit Show isn't going to happen
Yea, the silence regarding Shit Show makes me sad. I really liked the new venue too. Where am I supposed to spend Sunday morning now?
I think we can still spend Sunday morning somewhere like that.
Fuck, man. I wanted to see Brodinksi but that's completely unlikely since he is closing out the Electric Forest stage one night. Please do join SoulDischarge and me for our JPHLIP Booty Bass Shake Down Competition. It's going to get nasty.
I mean, if worse comes to worse and I have to actually sleep Sunday morning, it wouldn't be the worst thing. There's a good chance a lot of Saturday night parties will still be going on Sunday morning too. Circo Loco for example.
I specifically want to go home and go to bed after the fest on Saturday night, then wake up Sunday at 6 am and go party.
Im looking at places to drink and Wow what a tease it is to be thirty minutes away from Jolly pumpkin which is one of the biggest barrel aging breweries in the world let alone a brewery that specializes in only sour beers. Im going keep on researching good places to get a beer along with my music research.
Just buy some good shit for the hotel because you don't really have time to go explore shit.
Zack, last year they added a biergarten to the festival (in addition to the normal stands where you can buy crap beer). They had a few Michigan breweries there, Great Lakes (from Cleveland), I think other than that it was just standard imports. I forgot to go in... my brother and I will definitely be hitting that up this year.
And yea, what Patrick said, you don't have time to go to breweries. And you will probably want to do a beer run on the way from the airport (or at least, outside of the immediate area of your hotel), as you are not going to find anything you want to drink nearby. My red bull - 4loko - rum cocktail was born of necessity. The only place near the corktown is a liquor store that was sold out of juice mixers that day... :)
I totally agree. So if I can Ill try to make out to Merchants fine Wine(16 minute drive) to get some brews which is suppose to be the best in the area for a beer store or just buy whatever is good and local brews I can get as I did at ATP.I totally understand this is suppose to be more of an event to just have fun with our friends and enjoy the music.I just want to try local brews and if there is the typical what I think will be founders and bells Ill be ecstatic about that in general as well for great lakes.
is the brewery I was talking about.
Bell's is based out of Michigan. Which is all you really need.
Merchant's in Grosse Pointe Woods really isn't too far, but they're going to be closed by the time you guys get in on Friday, aren't they? Seems like a lot of effort for Saturday morning before the fest.
Keep in mind the grocery stores can sell beer/liquor there, they just won't have as much selection as a specialty store. I was able to find my Woodchuck in most of the grocery stores at least ;)
Bells alone will make me very happy .They make great beer and I mean this from a national level.Yeah, Merchants will be close I shouldn't do any research as far as beer I could go out of my way for.I am just excited to have fun with everyone.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the biergarten. I don't even remember if I went in. Tall cans of bud light lime all day.
