The "official" hotel shuttles where you can get passes for only go to the hotels partnering with the Festival.

Check if any of these is in the vicinity. Failing that, there'll surely be unofficial shuttles (locals making a buck, mostly) you can take.
I stayed there last year and they had an "unofficial" shuttle doing runs from the resort. I think we paid $35 one way for 5 of us. He picked up and dropped off at the taxi drop off spot and gave us his cell to call when we were ready to be picked up. We also had shuttle passes from the Indian Wells Tennis spot and the unofficial shuttle from the resort was much easier to deal with. There's also taxis from the resort. Driving in and out of the Wyndham was definitely a pain in the ass to deal with so if you can avoid dealing with their check points all the better.
