Iceage fucking slayed tonight. Meat Market is the strangest venue I've ever been to, everyone brings there own booze and smokes inside and it just has a general "anything goes" vibe to it.
I bought my Black Lips tickets this afternoon and I can't wait to get weird on Saturday. Anyone else going?
Ozomatli - 5/4 - 20th Annual Cinco de Mayo Phoenix Festival, Central & Van Buren
I am going to Black Lips. Their set last year was the highlight of my Coachella.
discounted presale GA Lawn tickets for this.
I bought reserved and ended up with section 204. Hoping to trade up to something better if possible, but I totally slacked. I wish I would have seen the Amazon deal, but I wasn't paying attention.
Looks like the Liquid Sol Fest website was given a bit of a facelift recently. I haven't heard anything, but I'm thinking a lineup announcement could come the Monday after Country Thunder in order to capitalize on all of the press the location will be receiving that weekend. Really curious to see what type of lineup they put together.
Edit: They have a Facebook page now: https://www.facebook.com/LiquidSolFest

Our mission is to attract top national and regional music acts to perform on two stages. Liquid Sol Music and Arts Festival will target such performers as the original Beach Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kid Rock, Cheap Trick and Lynard Skynard.
The original Beach Boys will never perform together again, I'll have just seen the Chili Peppers at Coachella, and I'm not a Kid Rock or Skynard fan. Seeing Cheap Trick would be cool, but these are the headliners they are "trying" to get, not who they are going to get. The bands they list on their mission statement leave me wondering if I'll like the line up enough to bother going.
Also I just looked at the Country Thunder web-site, and apart from burning my eyes, they have 6 bands a day on the mainstage from 1pm to 10:30 (first four sets are an hour and the last two 1.5 hours with 30 minutes between sets), and 2 local bands that each play 2 sets a day on the smaller stage (weird that none of those bands are country bands). If they do the same for Liquid Sol, you can see 8 bands a day. At $120 for the early bird, three day ticket that's $5 a band, so if I like half the bands it'll probably be worth it.
I didn't even notice that they had a mission statement, but, yeah, that does cause a little bit of concern. Like you said, though, the ticket prices are good so if it's even a halfway decent lineup it should be worth going out to Florence. And like I've said before, I'm really just keeping an eye on it in hopes that they land Pearl Jam as one of the headliners.
Bro rock. Exactly what I thought.
Who is going to Beach House on Tuesday? What about Phoenix? Is there a good leak of the new Phoenix album out there now?
I'm going to Phoenix, and I think Rick is going. I've been listening to the crappy leak, and I still like the songs on there.
Phoenix finally sold out. Also, Crescent Ballroom just posted that the lineup for this year's Los Dias de la Crescent will be announced next week. It'll be held May 17-18.
i will be at Phoenix too
Amy is right, I'll be at Phoenix. I'm going to be at work till at least 6 that night. Anyone want to grab a bite to eat beforehand? (Doors at 6:30, show at 8, but I'm guessing Phoenix doesn't go on till at least 9:30 since the luckyman site indicates just one opener.)
Got shut out of Beach House, which is a bummer to an extent because I know that's probably going to be the best environment to see them in. C'est la vie. Guess I'll have to mollify myself with the free Prince tickets I won. (No, I won't shut up about that tonight.)
Fuck it, I'm just going straight to the venue from work. Gonna try to park at the Marquee.
The Black Lips were fun as usual. I also dug Andrew Jackson Jihad.
Looks like I won't be making it tonight's show, which means I'm out 50 bucks.
Some AJJ fan I talked to in the smoking patio was excited to be seeing them in his hometown. "I've seen them 3 times, but always in Phoenix, never in Tempe."
Work. I was hoping to eliminate some of the conflicts at the festivals, but oh well.
