Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Of course they create rules to make it more complicated, they're the marquee.

The last time Phoenix played Marquee the will-call line was fine, it was the actual security line to get in that was ridiculous. Especially if you were over 21 and wanted a wristband to drink.

Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Meanwhile, in shows to plan for this summer...
Twin Shadow
6.27.2013
Crescent Ballroom
PHOENIX, AZ
Hmm, Thursday night. To take the following day off or not? I'm kind of surprised he's playing the same venue as last time, considering I thought it sold out. Hopefully this means we get a new album this year & that the crowd will be a bit less obnoxious. (Won't hold my breath on that.)

Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
I usually take the day off after a show if the concert happens on a weeknight.

yep. i also agree that security has always been way-worse of a line for me than will-call. do they still make you take off your god damn shoes?
-
Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
No, they stopped that last year.

Now security just makes you take your top off.

Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
False alarm. The co-worker says that plan to increase capacity at the Marquee was delayed so it's no different than it has been.
-
Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Huh, really? So did they still increase their capacity or do you not know?
-
Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
They didn't. He told me they increased capacity in 2004 from about 1000 to 1500. In order to do that they had to add another toilet to each bathroom (he noted that it's almost always out of order by the way). They were supposed to increase to over 2000 about month ago and the Deftones and Green Day (before Green Day postponed) shows were going to be the first ones with the new capacity. He also said they have always oversold shows and continue to do so. He doesn't know a ton, he's not sure if they are still going to increase or not. This guy is kind of dopey so i'm not really sure what to make of what he says at this point.

Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
I don't understand where you could fit another 500 people there!

Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Me either.
Did Rodriguez ever have a Crescent Ballroom date or was the Crescent site just selling/promoting the show in Tucson? Oh well. Tucson show is sold out for him.

Really, I had to take off my shoes for both PiL and Shpongle not too long ago.

I saw PiL there and I didn't have to take mine off.
-
Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Yeah I was thinking they made me take off my shoes recently (Shpongle).
-
Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Security tends to be tighter for any electronic shows. They want to separate the kids from their drugs.

Your security person at PiL must've had a foot fetish because I didn't have to take mine off. Unless...do you look like a terrorist?

Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Rodriguez is now at Mesa Amp on the same effin' day everything else is. Everything else = Foals at Marquee and Postal Service at Comerica.
-
Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
Really pissed about the Foals/Postal Service shows being on the same night, mostly because Surfer Blood is opening for Foals and I miss them every single time they come to town.
-
Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
I'm pissed Bat for Lashes is the same night as Sigur Ros.
Also,
Youth Lagoon - 04-21 Phoenix, AZ - Crescent Ballroom

This for me too. I would love to see both of these artists outside of Coachella. I wish these were on the next weekend.

No, I look more like a cop, but I'm not a cop.

Yep that too. I'm wondering if Bat for Lashes might start a bit later and if both are possible.

I panicked and almost bought tickets to bat for lashes, then I realized where I would be!

Re: General Phoenix Area Shows
So glad that I didn't buy Postal Service tickets now that Foals is that same night. I thought I was going to be concert-ed out by then but I'll make sure to leave something in the reserves for Foals.
