Are you looking to stay in Oakland or SF? Fox Theater is really close to BART so you have a lot of options.

Are you flying in to SFO?
There's a lot of places around the airport.
After the show you can walk a block to 19th street BART and take it back to SFO or something and then take a cab/shuttle back to the hotel/motel.

Tuesday's are hit or miss for the most part. Depending on the budget, Marriott Marquis could be good. It's close to Powell BART station and Mezzanine if you try to catch James Blake later that night. It's sold out but I'm pretty sure they will let in people around 12am if there are no-shows. It should be a late show but I'd check more into that.
Other areas to look into are North Beach or Union Square. Those areas tend to have more travelers out and about.

I saw that. Tempted to do both nights as well but probably will just end up doing one. Leaning more to Mano Le Tough since I've never seen him.

Re: Just announced shows in San Francisco
If you're looking for something cheap, I've stayed in the Good Hotel (no, really, that's the name) a couple of times, right by Civic Center BART. It's a little shabby, but not gross like the other stuff in the immediate area. Should be around $120/night. There are of course a lot of nicer hotels near BART but you're looking at $200+ night minimum for most hotels here.

I will believe this when I see it, especially since you claim you're going out two nights in a row the previous weekend. :)

Did anyone actually make it into 1015 Folsom last night? They were turning people away at 10 with tons of folks still pulling up to the spot.

Yeah...it's quite good. A little surprised I like it as much as I do, actually.

As far as SF nightlife goes, "free show at 1015" is one of the scariest things I can imagine

Seriously. A required $5 donation that goes to charity would have gotten rid of half of those people and still sold out.

Re: Just announced shows in San Francisco
1015/103 Harriet is a horrible spot for a multitude of reasons. And free shows there -- if you can even arrive early enough to get in -- attract the most obnoxious of crowd. At this point, I don't think you could pay me to attend.
