Re: Just announced shows in San Francisco
Ouch for anyone going to Bill Graham or the Greek:
04/16 - Sigur Ros with Oneohtrix Point Never @ Fox Oakland
05/30 - The xx @ Fox Oakland
-
Re: Just announced shows in San Francisco
Ouch. I'm going to try for Sigur Ros tickets at the Fox then. Have tickets for James Blake that night but I'm sure I can do both.
Thanks to a boardie for pointing these out to me, I don't think they've been posted yet?
3/11 Autre Ne Veut @ Independent
4/1 Darkstar @ Rickshaw Stop
Think I will do both.

Fuckall on the Fox Sigur Ros show. I would have much preferred to see them there. Oh well. Is OPN opening for the Bill Graham show too?

Re: Just announced shows in San Francisco
those xx and sigur ros dates are confusing. have ticket sales for the greek/civic shows been that good?
the kid a undercover show last night was nothing short of fantastic. some very inspired, creative covers by some talented local musicians (below). I am curious to check out some of the bands now. the flamenco version of how to disappear completely, beatboxing idioteque, and latin hip-hop fusion version of optimistic were all especially good.
Quote:
1) Everything in Its Right Place - Rob Ewing's Disappear Incompletely (New Electro-Jazz)
2) Kid A - Gamelan X (Gamelan/Bali)
3) The National Anthem - DRMS (Noir Pop)
4) How to Disappear Completely - Elizabeth Setzer (Flamenco/Balkan Fusion)
5) Treefingers - Gojogo (Classical Indian Fusion/Modern Jazz)
6) Optimistic - Bang Data (Latin Hip-Hop Fusion)
7) In Limbo - Battlehooch (Shapeshifting Orchestral Rock)
8) Idioteque - Kid Beyond / Classical Revolution / L.L. Aspect (Electronic/String Chamber)
9) Morning Bell - The Hurd Ensemble (Classical Meets Electronic)
10) Motion Picture Soundtrack - Bells Atlas (Afro Indie Soul)

Re: Just announced shows in San Francisco
The xx actually sold out the Greek. I'm assuming Sigur Ros is doing well so they added that show.
-
Re: Just announced shows in San Francisco
Ticketmaster didn't pull any tickets for Sigur Ros at Bill Graham earlier, I'm assuming it's sold out.

I understand that. it's still unusual to add another night at a smaller venue.
hmm, wasn't aware that the xx at the greek had sold out. so much for that.

I went last night and it was a good time. I agree on Idioteque and Optimistic and Treefingers and Motion Picture Soundtrack were highlights for me as well. The Afro Cuban Motion Picture Soundtrack was a beautiful way to end the evening.
I would definitely check out another uncovered show if they did the right material.

So many choices. Right now, it's looking like Airborne Toxic Event, Band of Horses, Green Day, Sigur Ros, and Gaslight Anthem.
Not sure if I'm going to add anything else to that at this point.
