that was fantastic
I have never.... experienced anything like this OR felt like this before............
it was good until it started trancing it up real hard. that song sucked
Look past the music . . . that was brilliant.
The laugh at the end will give me dreams of Joshua trees and sunsets tonight.
It was a goood article.
Gotta love HH! He's my new guru!
The song that was playing was being projected from Huell's mind.
Yeah, he was really that high!
ive watched this probably 100 times. and every time i see episodes now, when i hear him make noises like that, i think about a possible sequel.
What's the deal with this guy? I downloaded that Coachella special, and he made me want to claw my brain out. Do you watch for the kitch factor, or is this actually a popular show over there?
for me it started out as a joke. my friend matt happens to do a spot-on impersonation of him. a couple years ago he was doing the voice and it made me laugh so hard, so i started watching some videos of him online. soon enough i was getting a season pass of CA Gold on tivo. i've come to genuinely enjoy the episodes. he will cover things in california i never new existed, like salvation mountain, and i want to go visit them now. and then he'll do episodes on how THERE'S A MILLION LADYBUGS ON THAT TREE OVER THERE!!!! and those are just fucking hilarious cause he's SO EXCITED about it. but he's just been doing this forever. i was telling my mom a couple months ago about how i'm obsessed with this show now and she said she used to watch it at home while raising us back in the day. he is such a staple of the local california livelihood.
also interesting... there's a science to how an interviewee should act on the show. you kind of just shut up and let huell ask the questions at his own pace, and don't really give out more info than what he asked for. i was just watching an episode where he visits this old artsy run down house/museum built into the side of a hill and the tour guide was SO fucking annoying. you could tell he was annoying huell as well. he would not stop talking and totally monopolized the interview.
By the way... that video = fucking greatness.
Hmmm...we've got a guy in AZ named Pat McMahon who's been on the air in some form since the 50's, but he's...er... professional.
To be fair, I'm basing this off of one episode.
But I have never understood the point of getting high to make something lousy seem better. Why not just watch something better in the first place? There is a time and place to get high, and doing it in front of the TV seems like a dreadful use of time. I rarely do it anymore unless I'm out in nature. I got sick of waking up thinking "Did you really eat coco puffs and watch The Goonies last night?" If somethings not good enough to watch/listen to/eat sober, then I don't want to waste an expensive high on it.
Yeah the more I think about it, the more I realize that the Coachella episode really was the worst possible episode to be introduced to Huell. The guy is actually completely brilliant, for one thing... if you read an interview with him you'll see. But he does much more thought-provoking programs when he's not at a big rediculously hedonistic place like Coachella.
That said though, the Coachella episode was obviously my favorite Huell Howser episode of all time :)
And I've never watched Huell when I was high... but I must say that it does sound fitting.
Yesterdays news. I posted that same video a while ago in multiple threads, still funny though.
I feel so bad that you didn't get credit for your original postings.

LA Times article 7/26/09
"The wonder and awe that make up Huell Howser"
Did anyone watch California Gold this past week? Huell went to In-N-Out burger and it was freaking amazing!!
Well fuck ya'll, it was a good episode and very informative. We even sat and had In-N-Out. I also feel bad for Huell, it seems he may have had a stroke.
well isn't this a treat... Huell is my dude!
