Early Termination Fee's
So i am involved in an all out war with T-Mobile over the $200 early termination fee that they are charging me for leaving them (to go to AT&T for the iPhone).
I've done some research and found that if they don't have a copy of your signed contract (a lot of the places do/used to get rid of them after some time) then you can complain that you weren't aware of it, and if you have to take matters further, you can file a complaint with the FCC. I am requesting a copy of my signed contract, but it seems as though they cant locate it which will be great for me.
I KNEW i would have to pay it, and am willing to, however obviously want to keep $200 in my pocket (did you know we're in a FUCKING RECESSION!?!!).
Does anyone have any experience with beating the system and getting out of your early termination fee?
Does anyone work for a major carrier that could divulge some secrets?
I know i can't be the only one that has, is, or will deal with this.
kthnx

I cannot fathom a more simple concept in language than the difference between a plural and a possessive.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
Don't sign contracts you dont intend to fulfill dillweed.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
I say just let them keep bugging you. If they can't prove this lost document exist. No case.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
Doesn't T-Mobile have a 1 year contract? You couldn't wait 1 fucking year? Most others have 2 year contracts.
-
Re: Early Termination Fee's
fuck t-mobile. fuck them long and fuck them hard. i hope you don't have to pay them squat.
-
Re: Early Termination Fee's
put a brick through one of their office windows to offset your fee.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
Ah, well, I guess their 1 year thing is over. I had T-Mobile for one year, then switched to All-tel, then switched to my company (who paid the All-tel termination fees). I'm forcibly being switched to Verizon sometime next month. No fees for me.

i dont think thats sincere.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
with verizon they lower the $175 term. fee by $5 a month for every month you complete of your contract. so if you are 12 months in on a 2 year contract and want to cancel then the fee you pay would be $60 off of $175, so $115. not sure if tmobile does something like that. at least it's a little cheaper.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
I have my iphone on t mobile. The 3g jailbreak just barely came out. It works great. T mobile is cheaper than at&t too.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
hehe....let me clarify.
I'm out of T-Mobile, and now with AT&T
I knew i would have to pay this, but am trying not to.
Since when did the board get so ethical?

Re: Early Termination Fee's
Verizon will also refund that fee if you decide to come back within 3 months. I went to sprint and had terrible service. Verizon wiped my bill clean and said welcome back.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
Ah. Well you should have stayed with t mobile and just unlocked your iPhone
-
Re: Early Termination Fee's
The termination fees to to pay for the "free" and "discounted" phones they gave you when you signed on since you're not paying it back by staying with them.
-
Re: Early Termination Fee's
Well...hindsights 20/20, good info for any friends that want to get the phone but are with t-mobs.

Re: Early Termination Fee's
i wish i could get an iphone, but fucking tmobile and at&t use the same antennas, so service is complete shit where i live. it's perfect right down the hill and about a 1/4 mile up the road, but right exactly where i live, nothing.

I've dealt with this bullshit before. I had AT&T on a 2 year contract, and after the first year I began to question my plan and the service. I went in to change my plan and instead of continuing with the previous plan, the fuckers wanted to start it over from scratch! Suffacated ended up adding me to his Nextel account and I had my number transferred... I got a collection notice from AT&T afew weeks ago about that termination fee from almost 1 1/2 years ago...Poor them, seeing as bankruptcy beat them to it!
