Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
the times for 1999 and 2001 are off though...2001 is the only book I don't have of the Coachellas I went to...
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
wow, insane...great thread.... Moby got a 2h 40min set in 99!? those set times are amazing....they have ruined Coachella now with 50min sets though.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
I spent all of Saturday 2007 in the Sahara Tent. Every moment.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
ha 30 minute set for A perfect circle at 2pm main stage
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
It's so interesting to see how some acts have graduated over the years by looking at their set times...fun to think, "Wow, how the hell were they/he/she play so early," like M.I.A or Animal Collective as they got bigger and bigger.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
Wow, thanks for this thread.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
This thread is the best! Thank you! There's a few years here that I'd been looking for for a while.

I'm sorry to hear that. We all make mistakes I guess.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
Hahahaha I knew never about The Blood Brothers right into The Locust in 2005. That's fucking amazing. Coachella REALLY needs to do that again. With a 15-minute Head Wound City set right afterward to close out the night. (YYY's will be playing obviously...)

ruined it, eh? ok...
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
This stuff has been on my site for well over a year just to let you all know....and those 99 set times are wrong (I've been over this before in another thread), the guy who made that chart for the 99 times just put the last performers as ending at midnight regardless of what time they started...I have many recordings of each of these artists and their setlists and I can assure they didn't play for over 2 hours.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
Plus I love how the guy who runs that site copied the thumbnail images off my site...

what? that's what it says. they were originally scheduled to close the tent saturday. they got maybe two songs in before the plug was pulled, since the tent was running a whole hour later. they ended up playing sunday earlier in the day. exactly as the schedule states.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
This thread is pretty cool...
The only thing that makes me a little sad, is seeing so many acts that I love now, that I had no clue who the hell they were at the time they performed. Like Editors playing opposite Madonna in '06. I'm not Madonna's biggest fan, but I'm not gonna pass up a chance to see her to seeing some no-names called "Editors"... ughhh... how ignorant I once was. It would still bu tough to pass up seeing Madonna though.
But I looks back at these schedules and see a lot of pretty famous acts that were a little more obscure when they made some of their appearances at Coachella. Interesting...

ha. that reminds me of this report from nme:
Quote:
Over in the Mojave tent Editors managed to defy the undoubted draw of Madonna by playing to a packed crowd who lapped up the likes of ’All Sparks’, ’Blood’ and new song ’Bones’.
Acknowledging the draw of the singer who made her festival debut at the same time in the neighbouring Sahara tent, Editors’ frontman Tom Smith encouraged the crowd to quieten down so they could they could have a “Madonna listen” which drew a loud chorus of boos so the band launched into ’Munich’ instead.
“It was at that point we decided to drop the ’Holiday’ cover,” Smith joked with NME.COM after coming off stage. “I was surprised, I wanted to see Madonna myself.”
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
Did Editors play "Specialist"?
And yeah, the charts for 99-03 are ridiculously stupid. Curfew was 11pm in 99 and they don't account for setup between acts.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
Awesome thread.
And I love that Kraftwerk is listed until 11:52 in the Sahara in 2001.
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
Moby vs. GusGus vs. Tool conflict in 99? Wow... That must have been hard.

Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
Hi all, we (Josh and Larry) run the mashfest.com site. We're trying to get all of the old lineups and set times from _all_ major festivals together on one site so that people will be able to look back on this stuff.
Apologies if the set times on the earlier years aren't perfectly accurate. All we were able to find were the set beginning times, so rather than just making up an end time, we just filled in the gaps for these. If you have any better information, feel free to PM me or send it over, or visit the site and post a comment about it.
We are also collecting a lot of old videos from the festival together in the videos section, and you can contribute with an account.
http://www.mashfest.com/videos
We still have a lot more info to get together, but we hope to have a very comprehensive festival resource/history site together soon. One cool thing is that you can flip through all of the bands and read detailed descriptions (through integration with the LastFM API), you can make customized schedules, create a profile, mark shows you have attended, comment on and rate specific shows, attach videos and photos to a show page, and so forth. There is also a festival calendar, and mapping features are on the way.
Example show page:

Entering in all of the old lineups for Glastonbury is going to be a bitch.
Anyways, just wanted to chime in since I noticed some folks were complaining about the accuracy, and also wanted to post some more info about the site in case you were interested in the types of info available there. We'd love to enter in a more accurate schedule for the older festivals if you have them available. And we'd also love it if you had some ideas for a music festival site that you would like to see implemented.
Thanks,
Larry
Re: Coachella Schedule Log Thread
my site covers the coachella part already and has been around for almost 2 years now...

Imagine walking around on the second day of 05 late at night and hearing the combination of BB, Locust and Wolf Eyes from the tents.
If I was someone other than me at that time I'd probably stay the fuck away from those tents.
