I sort of ended up in North Carolina by accident. I couldn't find a job in Tampa when I finished school, so I decided to go live by my parents in DC and give that town one more try. I lasted 5 months before it became clear why I left the area in the first place. I was about 3 days from moving to San Francisco (my brother lives there and I'm smitten with that part of the country) when I got offered a summer contract job with an engineering firm in Raleigh that I had done freelance work with in the past. I decided to take it to earn a little money for my move out west and ended up falling for the boy in the next office. Fast forward 18 months and that boy and I are now living in sin and I see myself staying here for a while. It has definitely been an adjustment living in the bible belt, but the place is growing on me.Quote:

I can't say I've ever had a proper Matanza experience. To be honest, I had to google it to figure out what the hell you were talking about. 'Round these parts we call em "pig pickins" and I avoid them like the plague. I find it much easier to eat pork when I don't have to stare into the dead pig's eyes as it lies gutted for our culinary enjoyment.Quote:

Not very frequently. But, when I was going through my jam band phase back in 2001, I discovered this little local band from DC called OAR. I was intrigued because they had an ever so slight reggae sound, and put on a decent live show. In the past few years, they've reached ultimate "bro music" status and their last 2 or 3 albums have been absolutely stripped of any personality. But sometimes it's better to hang in the back; there's something to be said about lying down in the grass at Coachella once the sun goes down to catch a set. I did that for Roger Waters and it made for an excellent experience.
