With the recent scare of possibly missing a Radiohead/Sigur Ros combo for 3 nights...I decided to make a thread dedicated to the dubious idea of what act would make you miss Coachella? When I got news of the SR/RH combo, it was damn near a deal breaker. I have always said that any combo of the 2 and Bjork would be too much for me to miss...What say you board!? This should also serve to help Coachella in picking even more wicked acts and combos.
Are you going to miss Coachella GPS?
I purchased my NASCAR tix before Coachella changed its dates. We'll see.

It'd have to be a better festival than Coachella. Probably in Europe. Since Coachella is more than the sum of its parts, no single band, even with a great opener, could replace it. Besides, a lot of my favorite bands are old or dead or playing tiny reunion shows in small clubs with very little spectacle. I'd feel underwhelmed compared to what could have been.
I think Radiohead is about it. If Animal Collective played with with a couple of great openers, I would have trouble missing a set of dates by them in the NW... That's about it though.
I think either Sigur Ros or My Morning Jacket opening for Radiohead for at least 2 nights might force me to miss Coachella. But even when I was wanting to go see Sigur Ros/Radiohead, I was still gonna find a way to make it to Coachella.

He plays in Vegas all the time.
definitely not his farewell. he was just testing out his new hip- it looked good to go, so I'd say he'll be back to playing $1000 a ticket vegas shows once or twice a week, and the odd arabian king's birthday party. and coachella 2009.
it'll have to be something like Pavement reuniting for one night only and the reunion is not a coachella. thankfully, there'll still be 2 more nights of coachella to attend.

If there was a competing festival that housed Aphex Twin, Busta Rhymes, and RATM, I would have to go to that one. If there was an Aphex show or a Rage show, I would miss that day of Coachella, but not the whole thing. If Busta Rhymes was in the parking lot of Coachella I would hang out outside the festival with him until I convinced him to come in and rock out with me. And the Aphex or Rage shows would have to be within a reasonable distance - I'm not going to miss Coachella to fly to Australia to see a show. But mostly I won't miss Coachella for anything. My wife, my best friend, his fiance, and I all made a pact that we wouldn't miss Coachella any year. Word to mutha, sons.
The Smiths. That's it, though.
Talking Heads, Radiohead, Boards of Canada and David Bowie... but hopefully one or two of them will be at Coachella this year.
If a smiths show conflicted with coachella, the whole vibe of coachella would probably be a bit different as I would say many people would ditch that day of coachella.
Not i however, with many failed attempts i have never been able to get into the smiths

I hadn't thought of this. If there were a Philip Glass even going on, it would depend on who was there. I would probably still go to Coachella instead, but would immediately (upon arriving home) get up on this comp to find bootleg recordings of it.Quote:
