SNES had the best collection of games....ever....
I've been searching for Earthbound for years... there's about 800million of them on ebay that all say "rare!" and sell for $75+... but supposedly there's some douche somewhere that buys them and destroys them... like a douche...
I never played Earthbound, but heard many many good things...too bad I probably never will at this point...Chrono Trigger was the best RPG ever of that age in my humble opinion.
snes: my fav games -
donkey kong country
killer instinct
chrono trigger
final fantasy III
yoshis island
super mario world
zelda a link to the past
prince of persia
UN Squadron
sega cant beat that!
Am I the only one that spent the entire Summer of '94 playing Super Metroid until I finished it?
Sega had...

therefore it wins
Donkey Kong Country
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
F-Zero
Super Mario All-Stars (which was great cuz I never had a nintendo)
Mega Man X
Super Star Wars
Super Empire Strikes Back
Super Return of the Jedi
And that's just the SNES exclusive titles I could remember...FTW
I wish we'd have had web polls back in the 90s. We could have settled this a long time ago.
+1 SNES, and fuck Blast Processing
Super Nintendo, by far. Way more games worth buying, better graphics, better franchises. I had both, but this is no contest.
I sold mine on ebay in 2001 with the box (but I couldn't find the strategy guide) for $40 to raise money to buy scalped tickets to see Radiohead at Bull Run. Oops.
Earthbound really needs to be on the fucking GBA. I'm so glad they put the Final Fantasies on the GBA, but still need to get V. VI owns my soul. But I really want Chrono Trigger too. What the fuck...do they not want to make easy money?
Genesis all the way
Joe Montana Football
Evander Holyfield Boxing
That Big head Basketball Game
NHL Hockey
Come on!
I had both, but i bought my Genesis (or Megadrive, as we like to call them) first.

Two words: BLOOD CODE
nintendo is in my blood.
down R up L Y B
I'll have to say SNES because of Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Mario Kart, Mega Man X and Super Metroid. Also, the controllers were much better.
chrono trigger goes for like $80 on ebay, recently beeen selling away all my old games on it.
whoaaaa everyone is forgetting earthbound for snes. best rpg for that system.
oh and wasnt the atari jaguar out at the same time, that had the worst controller ever made.
Nintendo always made more fun games.
Nintendo was the first game system that was durable. You could do almost anything with those controllers (including dropping in a bucket of water) and they still lasted a long time. I remember the first game systems I had in the late 70s/early 80s (Atari?) had controllers that lasted maybe 2 weeks with normal usage.
Chrono Trigger came out as a re-release on the Playstation, and recently on the DS. There were a lot of classic SNES games that were released on some form of Playstation, not sure if it was PS1 or PS2. But, I remember buying a used copy of FFII and paying about $70 for it, as there was only one place that had it. I guess the classics still do cost quite a bit.
Yeah. Nintendo had Mario, SEGA had Sonic, but there were always more games to want for SNES. I did have both, but ended up selling the SEGA. I still have the SNES.
I finally went and got the Japanese version of the next Earthbound game (Mother 3) for GBA, so I can play it in my DS. Now I just need to learn Japanese! :) Well, I found out it's also not only in Japanese, but in Osaka-bin dialect or something.
I guess the SNES will always be special to me, because at the time I was staying home with my daughter, and we had a lot of family time playing the games. I have not had the time to play the other game systems.
don't you mean...

?
I had a Genesis. I never owned a Nintendo system until the Gamecube, actually.
Also I've always gotten the feeling that SNES is generally the "safe" pick for casual gamers to say they loved when they were a kid, even if they only remember playing like, one game on it. Not saying anyone in this thread (I didn't even read the thread), just that in my experience IRL most people who just LOVE Nintendo probably couldn't name 10 NES or SNES games combined (not saying I can, like I said earlier, I didn't have either).
Having had both Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, there's no way I could vote on this. It would be like comparing playstation to N64. There will be people who like both systems, but they're both great for their own reasons. SNES was solid for its cartoonish character-driven games, and Genesis was solid for being open to grittier titles that Nintendo just wouldn't publish. Genesis and SNES both shared great titles like Mortal Kombat 2+, but let's face it... but it seems to me that Nintendo only released MK games as to keep up with game sales. I could be wrong =P
