During the NPR interview I heard today the host asked Trent his thoughts on the fan made video for "Everything" in which he is sounded annoyed and said something about not thinking of unicorns and rainbows while writing the song.
Here is the full interview.
Was listening to this today in my car. Kinda got me intrigued in his intentions, I like how electronic it is (the first half is good at least, I didn't get a chance to re-listen to the second half). It almost feels like he was trying to do a NIN equivalent of Kid A.
Everything is not a bad song, but man is it ever weirdly out of place in the order of songs and on the album in general.
Troubadour set rocked my world. I was front and center for both Outsidelands and this.....and Troubadour takes the cake. Energy was unreal. I'm still on cloud 9. Can't wait for November. Lets hope I win the Rehearsal show =P
I do not comprehend the need to compare a festival show such as OSL to a club show at a place like a troubadour.
Especially if you weren't actually at both or even either.
All Time Low is so fucking sexy I just don't even know what to do. I'm humping the fuck out of my desk at work.
I hate you all who get to see him this fall. Please keep posting contests. :/
You can't make the Phoenix show Amy?
Going to a wedding that weekend, which will also make me miss Janelle Monae.
Well, I never get invited to weddings, and I've seen NIN live over 10 times.
Neat Troubadour pics
Pics of Trent flexing while screaming into a mic. How novel.
I would love to seem them in a venue that small.
does he always wear shorts that look more like a skirt?
Hunter, can you give us Trent's wardrobe stats? Thanks.
who ARE you?
He used to wear fishnets.
Those are awesome pictures. Especially the blue-lit one. Shut the fuck up, Tommy.
I can't believe the size of his arms -- every single time I see them.
^jeez kvnty, what doesn't make that kitty kat wet?
I really hope the actual Hesitation Marks tour contains a lot of material from the album because frankly I've heard Terrible Lie and Piggy and half a dozen of the other staples more than enough. I want to hear this album live in the worst way. It sounds to me like after doing the soundtrack for Social Network he kinda said, "Y'know... I don't need blaring guitars. I'm a fucking genius. Gimme that computer and a keyboard, I'll show you all some shit." And he turned out an album full of beats that are so hot and thickly layered that it just makes me think that if current EDM or hip-hop was half as good as Trent at throwing down a groove, I would still give a fuck about those genres.
I'm gonna do some absolutely vicious fucking to this album.
I think the fall tour most certainly will. The album was only officially released the same day as the Troubadour show, and artists still like to pretend that fans are not intimately familiar with albums before they come out.
BUT at the same time, you're going to have a lot of whiners who demand hearing all the singles every time.
Also, I agree with Randy. I hope we get most of the new album for the Fall tour. Do I have it right that they are preparing for two different stage shows this fall? One for festivals and one for arenas?
I think their last festival show is Voodoo and then they just have their arena shows.
edit: also Moutain Oasis the week before but I don't know if that festival handles headliners the same as outdoor festivals.
