Are you asking for permission? Sure, why not? Upload away.

Re: The IDM & Downtempo Lounge
Man being sick is screwing with my head... I was asking if it's possible to upload playlists to megaupload or if I'd have to make individual copies of each song on the playlist, create a new folder, and upload that folder?

I think you will have to zip the files. I just make copies of each songs and throw the copies in a new folder. Zip the folder and upload that to Mega.
It's kind of a pain, and prevents me from hosting more mixes. Hence why I am posting a downtempo mix I created last year right now hahaha.
-
Re: The IDM & Downtempo Lounge
luckyface thanks for that mix. I love downtempo but have just scratched the surface of the genre. I listen to Groove Salad on Itunes radio. it's great. Not all down tempo, but a nice big mix.
Some of Bill Frisell's stuff is fantastic. I like the Intercontenentals album a lot.
THeivory Corp I love to relax too. Funny enough, live they are super high energy. They kept up with Flaming Lips.
And it doesn't quite fit with all the electronica, but Sade is seriously the most soothing, calming music on the planet

Okay, that just basically confirmed what I was thinking. I'll put something up in a bit.

I will get it going again by posting an old mix that I posted sometime last year. I have never done any drugs, but I am pretty sure this should be a good mix to listen to when high.
haha

I think you are off to a great start with Groove Salad. I have discovered so much great stuff on that station. It is ridiculous! Don't be afraid to venture out to some of SomaFM's other stations, too, as they will introduce you to different artists within the genre (Secret Agent, Beat Blender, and Cliq Hop are all great as well).
I think another great way to get introduced to artists are compilations. The Ultra Chilled series for instance is a great starter kit for people brand new to the world. Lots of the mainstream acts with some choice cuts thrown in as well. I think you find better selection online with the Internet radio, but I can't tell you how much I discovered through comps.

Re: The IDM & Downtempo Lounge
Ok, so aside from whats already been posted, here are some of my faves. I have seen them all Coachella as well. St. Germain = best set at sunset ever.

Yep, one of the first CD's I really got into in the genre. You can actually see a song from the CD featured on the mix I posted a few posts back.
I wasn't blown away with their follow ups, but For Sleepyheads Only is exquisite. Anything off of Guidance is, for that matter.
-
Re: The IDM & Downtempo Lounge
don't know if someone already posted it, but Engine7's Hope Streets is extremely recommended.
Their next album, Me but Perfect, is being released on june. Excellent stuff.

I don't believe it has. I will be sure to look into that album.
I can't believe he hasn't been mentioned in here yet, but Casino vs Japan is so fucking money. I cannot get enough of it. Seriously some of the best downtempo out there. He has a 29 song double album that I grabbed off Amazon.com mp3's (Hitori + Kaiso, 1998 - 2001) that is so brilliant and only $6.99. It doesn't get much better than that. Check it out if you haven't already.

I was devastated when Guidance went out of business. Seriously, my favorite label of all time. I tried to grab as much vinyl from them as possible.
In terms of compilations, NOTHING tops the Hi Fidelity Lounge. I owe so much to that collection.

Hmm I don't think so. Casino vs Japan's real name is Erik something or other, I think.

You got Nuspirit on vinyl? Niiice. That one I am sure is a hot commodity.
That was gone before I decided to start buying vinyl (I ended up purchasing stuff a year before I got a player). I was only able to grab some of the stuff I wanted (Caia, Hi Fidelity's, Spylab 12"'s, Dining Rooms, etc). I am sure I missed out on some awesome albums. Oh well.

I thought someone had mentioned them on the board, but I couldn't remember where. I guess maybe in the Lemon Jelly thread? Anyway, yeah, CvJ is amazing. I actually do not have the Go Hawaii album. I need to grab that as soon as possible. Have you checked out the Hitori double album yet?

Nope. Must be a different artist. Definitely give Casino vs Japan a try, though. I will check out this Japan band.

I recall a title "go hawaii" but I only think of David Sylvian terms of Japan
Speaking in Hawaii terms Orbit(aka R.D.James) you ever enjoy Luke Vibert/BJ Cole's "Stop The Panic?" LV/Wagon Christ also worked with David Sylvian.

i haven't checked that album yet, but I will within the next days for sure. And I think I mentioned him in a US vs UK electronic music discussion somewhere.
anyway, let's not forget Daedelus! Top idm. He also makes nice hip hop. Thing is that has released so many works that it's hard to keep up with all his stuff. But Denies the day's demise, and Exquisite Corpse are 2 of my top albums of him.

Man, that Spylab album is one of my all time favorites! Did they make a proper vinyl for the album? I never got the opportunity to buy that one, and I would give limbs to secure a copy.
Did you know that the principal member of Spylab has a new group? Cinephile. They are not as good as Spylab, but definitely have potential. They are worth a purchase.

I have never given Daedalus a full listen. I don't know why, but I have only tried out a few songs, and I thought they were all good. I need to get on that.

yeah, I like that album. Also, phat lab, and amen andrews vs spac hand luke are great as well. but, like daedelus, paradinas and vsnares, he releases so many stuff that sometimes it's hard to keep up with his work.

before you do just know Japan was from the 70/80s influence many 80s electro bands and went on to work with Yellow Magic Orchestra(Sakamoto), CAN(Holger Czukay), Robert Fripp,BJ Cole,FSOL,Luke Vibert,Readymade,David Torn,Blonde Redhead,Burnt Friedmann, etc
