Suggestions for a Class Project?
I'm taking this class this quarter called Music and the World Wide Web, and for my mid-term I need to select a music topic to research on the web and provide a bookmark file containing at least 25 web sites which deal in some way with that topic.
Here's a list of some of the old topics that other students used/suggested ones:
live music collaboration
ethics of musical 'borrowing'
soundtracks/scoring for film
the current state of the codec
fractals, chaos theory music
auditory illusions/3D sound
modern music composition
So yeah, I was thinking of doing something about live music recording at concerts/festivals, maybe using the example of the Daft Punk live set from Coachella 2006 and how people traded recorded versions of the set to one another, etc. What do you think of that idea? What ideas do you have of your own?
Re: Suggestions for a Class Project?
i like your idea. i think you could go a lot of ways with it. are you writing anything on this, or just compiling resources? if writing, i would discuss the positive impacts, such as increased recognition and notoriety through free media. obviously, daft punk were able to do a full tour thanks in part to the coachella fan videos.
