Vinyl/Turntable Thread
Ok, so my Crosley Stack-O-Matic Varsity record player shat out on me recently after less than a year. Luckily, the company only has a 90-day warranty (way to stand behind your products). After calling into the company, I was told my two options were to send it to them to repair for $45 + shipping (probably looking at $75-80 after all is said and done for a unit that I don't trust) or to find some yokel around here who would be able to fix it, and they would send me all parts for $35 (+ whatever the yokel charges). So basically, it doesn't make much sense to spend all of this money when I can buy a new one.
So to all of you out there with turntables, what do you recommend?

I have a crosley that I've been using regularly for the last 4 years. It works great. Just go to the goodwill and pick up anything.

Re: Vinyl/Turntable Thread
fuckin' shit! i was researching turntables for a couple hours last night...random!
found this one on amazon.com and it comes highly recommended based on the reviews for it. good price, too. $199 and free shipping. checked around for prices at other online retailers and this was by far the cheapest. radioshack is selling it for like $400!?
without further ado, here is what i am serisoulsy considering:
Audio-Technica AT-PL120 Professional Direct-Drive Turntable

Re: Vinyl/Turntable Thread
You can never go wrong with Technics 1200's. I have 2 and I love them.
You could even buy used because they last for years and years and years.
If those are too much cash you could always go with an Audio Technica, or even Numark.
What do you plan on using these for, to just play records or DJ or sample??

That is a really Blatent rip off of the Technic model I talked about above. A lot cheaper but would prob be great for light use

Definitely looks cool, but I don't have a stereo to hook it up to. I need one that will play sound on its own.

It's Nordstrom's, you can tell by the banana phone.

Re: Vinyl/Turntable Thread
it might not be a 7-11. it might be a Circle K or a Stop-n-Go.

I'm a vinyl enthusiast and a label whore. I dont own a mixer. I have one 1200 to listen to my records. They are expensive, but are the absolute best.
