Ty Segall was solid last night, but goddamn Night Beats and Bleached were boring.
Sad to hear that about Bleached. i like the recorded stuff and Jennifer Clavin was always good live in both Mika Miko and Cold Cave
Ahh Mika Miko. I miss them.
I thought Bleached were very good the other night at the el rey, although they were kind of dull opening for Japandroids.
^that is exactly how I felt about it. Great at the El Rey and not so good at the Fonda. So yeah, I found my way into Ty on saturday and it was really fun. This was maybe my 4th time seeing Pangea and they killed as always, seriously a band to look out for in the coming months.

It's not that Bleached were bad, it's that Ty Segall made everyone else look like amateurs; from a song writing perspective, energy wise, sonically etc.

I was happy with Leonard Cohen's show last night at MSG after the first set of a dozen songs; it was already longer than the 10-song set we got at Coachella and he had played 7 of those 10.
After he opened the second set with "Tower of Song" my wife said "OK, we can go now." She wasn't serious but I too was beginning to wonder, how could this be topped? Answer: "Suzanne", the inspiration for her post-high school tattoo. You may have known how my recap was going to go if you had seen him on this tour or looked over the setlists but that wasn't how I wanted to do this. And, of course, given the time and space to think I could have come up with more songs I wanted to hear (and then he'd play them) but I was entranced enough that my mind didn't wander like that.
Leonard Cohen started out his career as a dirty old man, so that doesn't come off weird. He didn't have any vocal range to begin with so there's no problem there; his uses his limited, gravelly voice well enough that he sounds great. A full set of his songs could come off as troublesome but he approaches everything with an odd combination of class and humor that kept me engaged, kept me there.
The sound at Madison Square Garden was somehow phenomenal and the seats they had set up on the floor were surprisingly comfortable. The couple in front of us left after the first set, a bunch of people left after a strange "Hallelujah" and others expressed surprise that he kept going after that. In all we got 29 songs, the rarest for this tour being two songs from New Skin..., "Chelsea Hotel #2" and "Lover Lover Lover."
This was amazing and wonderful and I am so glad I went.
Super Jealous because that sounds really really great.I need to re look at the setlist from last month yet I know if I dont I will just get upset at what songs I havent heard.
Yah, I was outside the line freezing mah balls off when Echoplex was deciding if they should pull the plug off the show before Thrash Talk hits the stage because the artists were acting like biatches! They were all hanging outside the street threatening not to go on stage because 2 of their underage biatches got caught sneaking into the club when their friends let them used their ids and security was trying to get them out.... then of course Left Brain had an outburst against the security up front the stage trying to control the mosh pits and lookin' out for the smokers... was a good night overall, took my son to the event!
posted this vid in FB, not sure if you can see this...
