boc - has anyone heard about this?
Quote:
On 23 July 2007, a member of Hexagon Sun confirmed on the Boards of Canada Yahoo Groups that a new major release by the band is coming up. The post was made under the username "hex_official", and stated that an announcement would be made via the official Boards of Canada website closer to the release date.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
Yeah I've heard about it. It's possible news may come by the end of year (I'm hoping!). And yes, it was an official announcement made by someone close/who works with the group.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
and since i already started a boc thread i might as well ask here if anyone has the hell interface recordings. care to share if you do?
i hope a new record and after seeing what kind of response a reclusive act like daft punk got a few years back is enough to get them to break their trend

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
everytime i think of boards of canada I think of salad fingers.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
I'm one of the biggest boc fans out there, but its VERY doubtful that they'll play at Coachella. They haven't performed live since 2001 or something.
-
Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
Daft Punk hadn't performed in America since 1997. My Bloody Valentine -- well, I'm not sure how long it's been since they've performed live, but it's been longer than 6 years, and nobody would say right now that it's VERY doubtful that they'll play next year. (Not saying it's a definite but with the rumors that even Entertainment Weekly ran with, the time for MBV to play Coachella seems nigh.) So the length of time that's elapsed since the last time Boards of Canada performed can't really be used as an argument for why they're unlikely to play next year because that issue's proven to be moot in the past.
-
Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
Nah, its not the length of time, its the fact that they've only done about a dozen shows in all the years they've been around. I highly doubt they'll ever play at coachella.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
just stab me in the heart
-
Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
Well the longtime user who used to post the info on the boc yahoogroups was hexagonsun_official. I had never seen this 'hex_official' user around until that post announcing the new album, but I hope it's true.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
i suppose this means no one has the hell interface stuff huh. i dunno. someday theyre bound to get curious and try it. that was what daft did. and wherever it is, coachella or not. ILL BE THERE

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
no invites, sorry, its just 3 remixes though so you aren't missing much. I actually picked it up on vinyl at amoeba.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
So I downloaded their album "Music Has the Right to Children."
Goddamn that shit is boring. any reccommendations that sound nothing like that album, or is that just their schtick?

What the fuck are you talking about? That album is one of the BEST album of the past decade. Probably the best of BOC. Actually, my favorite one.
Try Geogaddi or the Campfire Headphase. If you don't like them, go listen Daft Punk.

oh, is Daft Punk too trendy now to be considered good? I will check out Campfire Headphones though

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
I meant that if you don't like BOC, ambient/downtempo stuff, you might enjoy upbeats and boom boom boom.. like Daft Punk.
-
Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
I missed this thread. Dang. BOC is excellent on mescaline.

You suck. Burn.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
if you're into BoC for chill music, you should also give Plaid a listen to as well. Get their album Restproof Clockwork - that CD takes your mind on wild adventures.
-
Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
Plaid is good, I like them as remixers, but they also have some questionable material.. well, they are good overall. Their remix of Bjork's All is full of love is excellent.
Plaid's Double Figure is pretty good album too.

Re: boc - has anyone heard about this?
i just downloaded a torrent of a bunch of old boc, its pretty interesting to see the progression....if its really them. some of it is for sure but other things im questionable about. id love to see them drop a boxset of all that shit
