The absolutely half-assed nature of our public educational system is responsible for the dumbing down our children, not me. The Teachers Union is as corrupt as any mob-run union except they have more voting power. No, I mean "half-assed," as in "makes an utterly shitty attempt at actually trying to instill any kind of useful knowledge or lasting skills in our children." The purpose of forced public schooling is (a) babysitting and (b) socialization, with the actual education being a far distant third. But they nonetheless do a completely shitty job of it. I was only assigned two actually decent books in twelve years of English classes, and they wonder why all the kids are illiterate?
