I used to pay attention in high school, and I was terribly confused that they would always be talking about awards for "best rock video" or whatever when they were actually awarding the song, and it had nothing to do with the videos themselves. it seemed like they were just using the word 'video' because they are mtv and were one of the first people (maybe the first?) to show music videos, but it's dumb. if you're going to have video music awards, award the videos not the songs. if you're going to award the songs, don't use the word 'video'. We went to the Jimmy Kimmel show just to see Spank Rock. It was so completely not worth waiting hours in line and sitting through an hour of Jimmy's lame show to see Spank Rock play 3 songs. Getting close to the stage is impossible unless you're sitting on the very left side of the audience, since that's who gets let out of the room first to the indoor stage.
