These guys made my year by ending with Mariner's Revenge Song. Also, Colin Meloy is inhuman for not sweating at all in that suit.

My most memorable Coachella moment: the whale!

Oh so true! This was by far one of those unique Coachella moments that can only happen @ Coachella. I wish I would have saw more of the show - made it towards the last 20 minutes or so.

Yeah I missed them to wait in the grueling hell hole called "the pit at the mainstage" for Arcade Fire, I even had to sit through Kings of Leon...their music almost made me sick, I still don't know why the Decemberists were not on the main stage, oh well I am going to the show at the Bowl anyways...anybody got their setlist for Saturday?

I was stuck in the first aid tent on Saturday as they were playing, so at that time i was happy just to even be hearing them. During Mariner's Revenge I heard all the ooohs and aaahs and saw the cameras come flying out but I couldnt see the stage from where i was at. that makes me very sad. hahaha. hopefully it comes out again at the hollywood bowl.

this was a fantastic performance. I loved, and totally didn't expect, the solicitation of audience participation. This is what makes shows memorable.

Thank you, Decemberists!

Decemberists were actually kinda of disappointing for me. Mariner's Revenge was a lot of fun tho.

I only caught the first bit of their set then headed over to get squished and sweated on to death for Arcade Fire. I'd already seen the Decemberists back in October so thought I wouldn't miss too much, guess I was wrong. :( So what exactly is this whale business everyone is talking about?!

During The Mariner's Revenge Song, Chris Funk came out with this gigantic whale suit and pretended to kill The Decemberists.

Hahaha, nice! Now I am sad I didn't stay longer for their set, I've never heard them do Mariner's live. Oh well, being close for AF made it worth it.

Hey Chris!

I tried to text you when I got over to the outdoor for Air (they were obviously late, but I loved their set) Anyways I think my phone was fucked by then though cause I wasn't getting any calls/texts out. :(

Yeah, your phone wasnt working too nicely after Klaxons cause I got no messages. Next year we'll lay next to the light bulb thing, or whatever light structure they build, hehe. I did all the work for ya, I was in the front for a lot of bands hahaha.

Hahaha, it's a date, but I'm sure we'll be at some of the same gigs before next year so who knows.

Yeah seems you got close for a lot. I was cool to be on the outskirts for most of the bands I saw, especially the ones who played in the midday heat. But I got pretty close for CSS, Klaxons, and Damien Rice so I was happy about that. :)

The Decemberists were amazing. They were my favorite of the festival. I love Rage too, but the Decemberists put on one hell of a show.

Anyone have a possible setlist for the Decemberists?

I wanted to find out that 2nd song they played, the first time the accordion was busted out.

I had never seen them before prior to Coachella 07 and they were ridiculously sick, I liked them a lot. So, please tell me that song, haha.

i caught their first two songs and then ran over to kings of leon to see them and get a good spot for arcade fire at the same time. i'm kind of sad i missed their ending and the whale but kings of leon were also a ton of fun.

Funny, I've seen the whale bit all three times I've seen Decemberists. They must have a special connection between the whale and the SoCal area.

Yeah, I was just having a conversation on my way over to their set about how bands should play short, upbeat, crowd pleasing songs for a festival. I think it helps to involve people that aren't die-hard fans in the show. And then just a few minutes later The Decemberists launch into the Island. I don't think it was the best choice. They coulda played Billy Liar and Sporting Life instead. But they definitely saved it with the dance contest. I was in the circle in the middle and it was a blast.

biggest mistake ever....

going to kings of leon to get a good spot for the fire....

ended up hating leon, and disliking the fires performance (because I was too close)

So never again am I going to miss a loved band for a good spot. FUCK THAT SHIT
