You have to realize that thousands of other people are going to try to do the same thing. As the night goes on, more and more people will post up in front of the main stage. The earlier you get there, the closer you'll be.

That said, three hours should be plenty.

And 3 hours will make you miss a lot of good music. You rookies dont know what you are going to be doing I'll say that...

I waited 3 hours for Daft Punk. I was 5 people back from the stage.

Absolutely worth it.

If you go around the sides of the tents, you can get really really really close really easily. I showed up twenty minutes before Gnarls Barkley's set last year and was in the front row.

Last year I camped out at the main stage all day on Saturday so I could be front row for Kanye and Sigur Ros. It was totally worth it. I will be doing the same thing for Rage. And it will be totally worth it, once again.

It will be quite different for RAGE - good luck with that. hehe

Yeah but no moshing happend during DP, think about it... My experiences of getting close for the harder acts in the past. Last year during Tool I was just in front ot the part of the center rail that pops out. When Tool came on, it took me 2 songs to get to the front and be 1 person back form the rail. 2005 during Nine Inch Nails almost the same positions except I was on the side railing. By the end of the 3rd song I was on the right side of stage on the railing...

No need to leave for bathroom breaks. Buy 2 bottles of water, drink them, save the bottle, pee in the bottle, drink the bottle, and repeat.

I was with codytwo, he stayed up front but I actually left around 3:30 to get water and piss and made my way back really easily till about 3 rows in, after that, people want their freakin spots. For daft punk we showed up about an hour beforehand, then figured out how to go all the way around to the side and get in the very front area pretty easily.

once Rage starts playing, the moshpit will be so huge that you will be able to move around and closer to the front. The edge of the moshpit always offers a great view of the stage. The people at the very front of the stage during Rage's set are all going to be getting crushed together miserably.

If you're that determined to see Rage up close, just pee your pants.
