Pills N' Thrills And Bellyaches rules. As does Psychocandy by the JAMC.

Get hold of the Monday's cover of Stayin' Alive by the beegees....and 'the boys are back in town' are the best songs....also try the band Black Grape which Sean Ryder also fronts!!....(well.... did!) they will play a couple of them tracks too. I've seen them loads and they are mad live

The Plan

Yeah the first Black Grape album is quite good. It might even be better than any album the Happy Mondays have released.

The classic Happy Mondays track is Wrote for Luck. Also great: Step On, Hallelujah, Kinky Afro and I like their new one: Playground Superstar from the Goal! soundtrack.

Jesus and Mary Chain, from someone's who's got all the original Blanco Y Negro 12" singles and the Creation 7" of Upside Down...all of Psychocandy. It's harsh but essential.

Ditto and if you really like the Mondays... and who can not but too, watch 24 HOUR pARTY pEOPLE. it has nothing to do with them really... but more the story behind the Manchester scene from the late 70's through the early 90's.

Both of these bands are great. Get the JAMC Psychocandy and the singles collection. For the Mondays, get Bummed, it is brilliant!

^ Okay, I just put JAMC's Psychocandy and the 21 Singles in my yourmusic queue. They don't have Happy Mondays. :(

Everything by The Mary Chain to be honest.

People aways mention Psychocandy but my favourite albums are "Automatic" and "Honey's Dead".

The Mondays are not getting much attention on the boards .... need to rectify that. Have they played lately ?? Is it the original lineup ? Bez ? Regina ?

I hope Bez is there. Every group needs a dancer.

Of the Mondays ???

They came out of the whole Madchester scene. They were (and hopefully are) extremely entertaining. I've seen Black Grape play years ago and they were great. If Shaun Ryder is coherent, it's a good show.

What, no love for the Mary Chain's "Darklands"? When they play "April Skies" under a late Californian April sunset sky, I think the place might just explode!

And if you can lay your hands on the Vince Clark remix of Happy Mondays' "W.F.L." you should, too - it's a throbbing little masterpiece.

Nope; haven't seen him lately. He was never the most lucid of chaps so being a 'vegetable' is well within the realms of normality for him.

I'm off to see the Inspiral Carpets next month.....Madchester is reviving over here and i wouldn't be surprised if the Farm did something soon.

This may be the wrong thread to even ask this, but is anyone else having trouble with the DualDisc release of "Psychocandy"? Mine doesn't seem to like all CD players. Also I have to have the volume cranked really loudly to hear the music at all. This is fine with me, until I forget that I've done this and change CD's, and all of a sudden I have windows shattering around me.
