Palm Springs is closer than Ontario, but it's also probably more expensive.

i've found that LAX is the cheapest so far (coming from Buffalo, NY), but depending on how you're going to get to the festival from the airport might change which airport you choose to land at.

I'm also coming from NY (nYc).

If you don't mind me asking, how much have you seen for airfares so far??

TIA

LAX is going to be the cheapest, but one of the furthest away. Probably a 3 hour drive plus however long it takes to get from the freeway exit to park (always backs up so plan accordingly).

Palm Springs is the closest, but its a smaller airport so more expensive. You'd have better luck flying into Ontario &the drive from there is about 1.5 hours.

you can rent a car at those ages (21-24), you usually just have to pay an underage fee. Ive looked for rates from Chicago to Ontario and Palm Springs and they were around the same proce $400 rt.

I usually check orbitz or expedia for prices and then go directly to the rental agency's site for the best deal. YMMV

yeah, Ive checked expedia, travelocity, and direct airlines, but all around 400. The strange part is my cuz, coming from florida, said her trip was also priced at 400? Whateva. Im no good at finding deals with airlines and I dunno if waiting or buying now is better.

How much besides the car rent payment they charge you if you are 22? How much for fees, insurance, and all that stuff?

NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Well other than the SUnBus(google it) it's cheap, but no direct routes. The coachella valley isn't big, it's small with shitty transportation. rent a car or split a cab with someone. Cabs will run you about $60 from PSP to the grounds.

Most places won't let you rent a car unless you're over 25.

I looks like they will but you need to pay a certain cost over if you are under 25.

Also as long as I have car insurance I don't need to pay extra for their insurance right?

i got a plane ticket from jfk to palm springs for 380 round trip...its 30 min away from i n d i o and it comes in the 25th so you only need to pay for a cab from the airport to the campsite (if you're camping) i thought that wasnt too expensive...check travelocity thats where i found it

I've priced the flight + car combo on lots of those websites. To fly into ONT is about $200 cheaper than Palm Spgs, and only an hour longer on the road.

It depends on the rental company, location and type of car. Enterprise is a good one to consider because they often have a smaller underage fee than the other main companies like Avis and Hertz. Just call up each place and ask.

Kayak is TERRIFIC, for searching both airfares and car rental rates. But you'll need to call the car rental company in most cases if you're under 25 years old, because they don't always list that information online.
