Last time I checked the weather - looks like we will be feeling major heat.

(This is the suckiest news yet)

Friday 97
Saturday 98
Sunday 99

Again I ask - what's wrong with moving the festival up a few weeks? Jesus, they are playing with fire. The moment someone keels over from heatstroke is the moment of NO MORE Coachella.

I think it has to do something with the polo season and how the schedule. I dont want a sequel to 2004 again.

C DUB YA

Well it looks like its going to be damn close to that, I actually cringed a little just now.

Um were you there in 2004?

Thats a good question, somebody else was talking to me earlier and they said last year was "hot". I asked them if they went in 2004 and they hadnt so I told them the temps and they freaked out.

On another note its pouring rain here in the valley.

And C Dub how did the poster come out printed?

3 days of 04 style heat would be brutal. It was hard enough for 2. But we are strong people.

won't see it till mid week - if that. I might be on my way there by the time its done.

Nah..I just used to live in Phoenix.. dig the heat..

'04 keeps getting mentioned, was it just plain unbearable??

C DUB YA

its been so mild here in ohio lately (we haven't hit 75 yet) - I think the extremes could shut me down pretty good. If its 2004 style, a lot of people are in for a rude awakening. Either way, "Bring on the Heat" chanting is just plain STUPID, cuz the Mojave tent will be like 140 and that's when the equipment starts to fry and malfunction, ask Jr. Snr.

its been in the 50's and 60's in bakersfield this week. Its been strange i wouldn't be suprised if its cool down at Coachella but if its 95-100 i'll be ok with it. I mean it gets 110 all the time in the summers.

It was pretty awful.

We actually skipped most of the day on Sunday because of the heat, (110 in some areas), I even missed some of Muse, so you know I was not comfortable.

It was over 100 both days and at least 135 in the tents - just silly hot at that point and it becomes no fun. You can't even move. Ugh.

Now that you mention it - Phoenix is unbearable as well.

It was so hot that:

THEY RAN OUT OF WATER MID SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

They literally went to the supermarkets around town and bought almost all the water that was left and brought it back to the venue.

Ahhh yeah, that's probably not a good situation... I'm busting out the backpack with double water bottle slots, and guzzling water all day.. I just hope some dumb kid doesn't roll during the day, overheat, and pass the fuck out in front of me.. Buzzkill the weekend..

Id still take the dry heat over that humidity though.. I was born in Puerto Rico and anytime it got over 85 I'd turn into a slimy mess.. That's the shit u can't breath in sometimes...

Or dress up like they are going to see the Cure. How many kids in all black, trenchcoats AND vinyl pants were there on day 2 sunday? I lost count personally.

In '04, it was so fucking hot my friend and I decided there wasn't anybody we absolutely HAD to see till the late afternoon so we went to Palm Springs and watched Kill Bill Vol. 2 before hitting the festival.

Are there any bands this year that will cause this type of dress? I know with NIN there were also lots of kids dressed all in black. I am not seeing any bands on this year's list that inspire gothic attire.

I'll be dressed in my desert style clothing, looking very dorky, but I want to stay alive! Once it gets near 100F it's hard to keep going.

I spent 17 years living in houston before spending the last 11 here in phoenix, so I think i call tell you about humid heat vs. desert heat. and 95 in the desert is nothing compared to 95 in humidity. I agree there's a point where it's hard to tell the difference, but I think it's more like 110.

yeah, Miami heat is different from desert heat. I don't think it's that bad out west compared to august in Miami, 93 degrees and 80% humidity.
in Miami, it's not the heat that gets you, it's the humanity.

my thoughts exactly. i went in '04, only had enough money to go on saturday but i remember how hot it was. what'll get you is if you don't wear sunscreen and don't keep hydrated, but i think people are smarter than all that. wear a hat, buy an umbrella, whatever works.

I live here in Richmond Va, you'd actually be suprised how hot it can get around here. Last summer we had a massive heatwave, and here and VA, it's not the heat that kills you, but the humidity. It's brutal.

I remember one night at about 2 AM, the heat index was around 93. 2 AM!!

I know its probably worse in southern california, but you wouldnt expect VA to be that bad.

Part of the fun of Coachella is that you and everyone else there earn it.

The heat is a great equalizer.

You noticed that as well...I have been checking weather.com for awhile now and noticed the temperature jumped up about 10 degrees since the initial temps were shown. 2004 anyone????

Also, in response to moving Coachella up a few weeks, Paul T. mentions it in the URB article - it has something to do with the grass on the polo grounds and the water system below it. Kind of ambiguous, but that is what he said the the polo grounds told him.

Tom,

Can you please explain to these aerated monkey ball faces the folly of relying on long term forecasts that extend beyond three days so I don't have to? This year is worse than the last two combined. I'm heading to aneurysm city here, people.

true and temperatures do vary less significantly in deserts than in places with actual weather where I live. However....last year, the weather crowd started predicting rain at about this time and everyone was all in a hissy fit and.....ooops...no rain. Just 80-90 temperatures.

Mind yer back, bitches.
