I'm starting this thread to see who is staying where. Maybe if people find other people that are staying at their hotel you can carpool to the festival!

I'm staying at the Marriott Shadow Ridge Vacation Club.

I usually stay at a the closest Travelodge I can find. It's just for swimming and sleeping, so I don't feel the need to splurge. This year I'm at the one in Cat City.

Since everything is booked up I'm renting an R.V. in Indio and just parking it in the Travel America truck stop (Allowed). I've taken a van in previouse years and have always stayed at the truck stop. There are security patroling, food, T.V. rooms, showers for $5, basically anything you need and it's cheap!

I'm staying at the Spa Hotel & Casino in Palms Spring. I figure this way I'll turn a $1,000 trip into a $2,000 trip, or I'll go for free depending on my luck!

We still have room for up to 4 people (females preferred) at our house if there are any takers. It'll cost ya maybe $200 bucks or so for the weekend and we're a fun group of people. Like I said before, there are other females at the house so it'll be cool. The house has a pool, jacuzzi, A/C, showers, full kitchen, etc... It's walking distance to the fest and always alot of fun. PM me if you are interested.

What's your price range and how nice of a place are you looking?

For folks who still need a room and can afford the $260 a night range, Homewood Suites in La Quinta still has rooms according to their online reservations. It's super nice, I stayed there last year and was very happy with it.

I probably would have stayed there again this year but wanted to try out La Quinta Resort since everyone also says that place is awesome and where a lot of the musicians stay.

i don't really understand the point of staying at a resort for coachella. seems like overkill to me. do you need those super-luxe rooms and amenities? my view is simple: clean room, fairly comfortable bed, warm shower, ac and pool (this being the low desert i feel i can safely assume all the hotels/motels will have ac and the vast majority will have a pool). free breakfast is much appreciated but not required. wifi is becoming more and more prevalent each year, so internet access is taken care of (i bring my laptop along to dump my pics and vids each day). the pool is for the late morning/early afternoon before i head to the polo grounds. basically, for me, my hotel is nothing more than a place to sleep and rest before and after each day. besides, i usually reserve a room for weekends i believe coachella might take place. once the dates are announced, i cancel my reservations for the other weekends. i end up keeping the normal rate which is usually quite reasonable.

I could afford the $260 a night pricetag but that makes the stay about $1,100 for the weekend. I'd be driving in on Thursday.

Anyone need a roommate to share the costs haha :)

Quality Inn, Indio. No frills and stupidly priced but the cheapest I could find. Booked it at the start of Jan...now hoping I can get two other people to share the room with us to make the weekend totally affordable.
Hopefully it'll be our friends, but if not we'll start taking people who'll put up with listening to Faith No More, Them Crooked Vultures and Gorillaz 24/7 ;P

my friends and i always get a house. if you have a decent size group, it is well worth it.

3 bedroom 2 bath, there is like 10 of us, and it's less than 700.

everyone gets a bed or a couch, not to mention a house stocked with beer and fresh food for the whole weekend.

even has a pool.

it will cost me $35 a night. max.

look into it.

Stayed there last year and it was perfect -- nothing too fancy, but free breakfast, mini fridge in the room, and wifi, so it's better than some of the other low-end stuff, even if it's slightly more expensive.

Just FYI -- I thought they were only selling 3-day passes this year, which are wristbands (so you only get one ticket for all three days). How are you planning on only going to one day? Is there a way to get single day tickets?

i don't really understand the point of staying at a resort for coachella. seems like overkill to me. do you need those super-luxe rooms and amenities?

I understand your point, but I got better rates at the resort I'm at than I found at some of the regular hotels, plus they provide shuttles to and from the show. And I like a bit more space than hotels usually provide.

01-28-2010, 09:31 AM
What's the best way of getting to and from the polo grounds and the World Mark hotel/condos (cabs, random cars, town cars, random shuttles, bus etc.)? The shuttle lines listed on the Coachella shuttle page aren't anywhere near there.

im there as well.. :) perfect spot!

i have a reservation there, too, as i have since 2005...but still may end up staying at a friends place in la quinta. waiting to see if the nephews are going to come with me, if they are i will just motel 6 it since i don't want to overrun the house with a ton of people.

it's weird how dead that motel 6 is, though. everyone really seems to keep to themselves, not sure why?

i always try and tell everyone to stay there. i think it is around $350 for thurs.-monday. find me anywhere cheaper than that so close to the festival that weekend. i have always wondered why they don't bump their rates way up like everyone else out there. the most a night runs is $89.99 before taxes...can't beat that!

Its pretty close to the shuttle p/u location at the Desert Fashion Plaza, maybe a 10 min walk.

Anyways, anyone else staying at the Pepper Tree Inn?
