the new one. Pocket Symphony is amazing. This performance is gonna be much better than the past one where they were touring for Talkie Walkie.

Air is the only band on the planet that manages to be French and good at the same time. they play heady pop with acoustic guitar and a lot of keys and programming. they actually have soul in their own sort of weird twisted-up-in-a-croissant way.

I always really liked their albums and friends had raved about their live shows for years. '04 was the first time I saw them. They are truly great entertainers.

One album that never gets mentioned is premiere symptomes. A lot of the tracks are moon safari tracks without the vocals, but ut us a very nice album. But don't let the mellow songs fool you. They put on an engaging show, even if there is no mosh pit.

Their set in 2004 was amazing. Early on the lead singer, speaking through a vocoder, said, "We are French robots." Solid gold.

"The sun has set; it's time to dance." Or something like that. Great times.

I am fully expecting to be experiencing one enormous long orgasm during Air, whether or not I'm on anything. I fuckin LOVE this BAND! I'm now going to watch all those Youtubes.

I didn't like Air until yesterday. I heard one of their songs along time ago and it put me off, but I went on their myspace and I'm definetely reconsidering...
http://www.myspace.com/intairnet
It's really pretty music and somewhat creepy which makes it a perfect match for me. I didn't bother seeing them the last time they play, but will definetly watch them this time.

That Surfing on a Rocket video creeps me out. I wasn't thinking about phallic huge rockets with slutty porn stars on them when I was first listening to this song. That is so wrong. (I still love that damn song though).

I've not heard any talk about DARKEL...is there a chance we'll get solo JB in a tent or something, in addition to the AIR set? Shit, we know he's going to be AT the festival...
I guess its possible that there's no touring act behind the record, solos often are that way...but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone had heard anything.

I saw them at that show and the timing and the music was beautiful, something I will never forget. But they were not the best show, Pixies will always have that title.

i bet they don't

in 2004 they played right before the Lips and the Cure on the main stage at sundown.

I haven't heard Pocket Symphony, but I haven't seen anybody mention 10,000Hz Legend.... their best album, seriously, no, seriously

Air for iditots: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_%28band%29

Every Air album is awesome. Get on a bittorrent site and download a discography. Listen to the Mark Ronson mix of Alpha Beta Gaga (vocals by Rhymefest). Listen to La Femme d' Argent (my absolute favorite Air song ever. Listen to Playground Love from the Virgin Suicides score. Listen to Californie from Premiers Symptomes. Listen to Run from Talkie Walkie. And watch the music video for "How Does This Make You Feel", it's fucking weird.

I envy you, because discovering this band will shift your whole sphere of muscial awareness.. or at least it did for me.

Same here; I thought their sunset show was awesome. But, their show at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic was incredible. Also, since Stereolab opened for them, it made the concert better. One of my favorite performances of the year. (Although, as stated, nothing beats the Pixies at Coachella.)

just listened to their new one the second time through and I'm loving it. it lends itself more towards moon safari then talkie walkie. more atmospheric. I also loved their 04 set as it seem most people do and was plesantly surprised by it, but the new album will work in more of a night setting, which they most likely will play.

Jarvis Cocker so should join them on-stage. Probably will.

in 2004 people were saying Beck would join air on stage. that didn't happen. and now that Jarvis has announced other dates that weekend, he probably won't be around sunday. check out the Jarvis Cocker (http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=455#28) thread for details.

In addition to the albums I must highly recommend the import CD Singles for "Kelly Watch the Stars" and "All I Need" from Moon Safari. Seriously, if you like the band and do not have these then you must seek them out (or download the tracks if you have to). "Stars" has an absolutely killer mix of that song that is far superior to the album version. That single also has an incredible alternate and full orchestral (yet abbreviated) version of "Remember". "All I Need" has the Moog Cookbook remix of "Stars" which is also essential to any Air fan.

Air is in my top 3 Coachella performances ever... but I have always been a little suspicious that it was just the mushrooms speaking, so it's good to hear other people reaffirm this (but I don't discount the mushrooms roll in it).

you must not know a lot of french bands.
for starters... Daft Punk. To continue... phoenix, (also played at coachella last year with DP) camille, emilie simon, dionysos and more....
manu chao was born in paris... and he is playing this year...if you havent heard anything by him ...i would suggest checking him out.
