I have been reading posts and there is obviously something that I am oblivious to. I have never heard of this person/group/band but everyone else seems to have and is very excited about the presence at Coachella this year.
Anyone care to enlighten me? Thanks.

I think Manu wants to enlighten you. Go buy (or download if you can't afford to buy) Clandestino and enjoy the hell out of it.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I went to his myspace page and listened to a few of the tracks. They were good, but I'm sure I need to hear an entire album to really get it. Anyone have some recommendations?

Manu Chao is sooo good saw him afew years back at the Edin Festival, safe to say that very little of his live stuff sounds like his albums (not counting the live albums obviously!).
He really knows how to do it so much energy and general mania real class act, I only hope he ain't playing at the same time as Infected Mushroom and Rage as I wanna see those guys to.

pick up his live album, radio bemba sound system. it's cut pretty sloppily, but it'll give you a good idea of what to expect. do not miss him! you will not be sorry!

Oh my god if that happens I would actually come profusley in my pants...
God imagined if after Rage, Infected played in the Sahara tent, GOD that would probably end up being one of the best nights of my life

Ok first of all you need to listen to the MANO NEGRA albums back from the late 80's-90's and then jump into the MANU CHAO Stuff. Manu Chao in the closest thing to a contemporary B. Marley.......mmm something like that....I think...

I believe that Manu Chao will play right before Rage. I believe Willie will be headling the second stage, as that is his spot for the Country Music Festival following the week of coachella. I missed half of his set when he came down to San Diego and am glad I will be graced with the opportunity to see his show in its entirly.

that's the first time I saw them in that youtube link. I didn't know Robert Rodriguez got into making music videos.

When that video was shot Robert Rodriguez was definitely doing something else, this is classic stuff, and Manu Chao is French so I see no real relation between the two. Lack of knowledge, partner.

of the live shows I saw in 2006, it would go:

Manu Chao > The Knife > Radiohead

I love that song "Si Senor" from Amores Perros. Hope if he is on before Rage, Rage fans are more respectful towards him than Tool fans were to Massive Attack last year.

yo lo vi en el shrine ... pero no estaba toda la radio bemba con el :( pero ya lo he visto completito con todos los integrantes... y se que para el coachella estaran todos juntos!!!!!!!!! so save up your energy boys and girls...cuz monday morning you won't be able to walk!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah! I saw them in Peru almost 10 years ago.. Almost free tickets, amazing show, but was just him. After seeing his world tour with Radio Bemba years ago, I was so amazed, but then i heard they were together just for that tour. Fuck it, and now they re back!!!
