Nick is near the top of my haven't seen list...I suppose I could make a list of most desired songs, but as long as he's there it's literally all good (and I hate that term).

Well, when it comes to Nick "all good" is one of the only times that phrase works.

Now l'm at the hairdressers
People watch me as they move past
A guy wearing plastic antlers
Presses his bum against the glass
Now l'm down on my hands and knees
And it's so fucking hot!
Someone cries, "What are you looking for?"
I scream, "The plot, the plot!"

Anything off of Let Love In, that's the definition of a perfect album. And it would be extra cool if he did some of his Leonard Cohen.

Ahh, I can't believe this is shaping up to happen.

"I'm sorry that I keep poppin' off with with my crazy mouth and jangling jester's cap
And I'm sorry that I ever wrote that book, I'm sorry for the way I look
But there ain't a lot I can do about that
There's things that simply cannot be forgiven
I was not equipped to know how to care
And in the occasions I came up for air,
I saw my life and wondered what the hell have I been living?
And I'm sorry about all your friends, I hope they'll speak to me again
I said before I'll pay for all the damages
And i'm sorry it's just rotten luck
I'm sorry I've forgotten how to fuck
It's just that I think my heart and soul are kinda famished
Forgive me babe, but don't worry
Love is always having to say you're sorry, I am from my head down to my shoes
I'm sorry that I'm always pissed
I'm sorry that I exist
And when I look into your eyes, I can see you're sorry too."

I would go with The Boatman's Call. It is beautiful and mellow, a good way to dip your toe in the water before you start listening to some of his wilder stuff.

Into My Arms and Are You The One That I've Been Waiting For are two of the most gorgeously written songs you will ever hear.

FEELS
01-22-2013, 11:56 AM
I'd have to disagree.. it's an amazing album but not a great starting point since it's pretty stylistically different than the rest. I'd say start with Let Love In, there's a mixture of calm and wild. If you want his more abrasive stuff, start with Tender Prey and go backwards. But all in all, every one of his albums are great.

PJ Harvey slot?

That would be my guess. Opposite Tom Waits (per the probably fake LA Times leak) of course.

Rather it be Grinderman. Grinderman is the best Bad Seeds are the rest.

I would go with The Boatman's Call. It is beautiful and mellow.

Too mellow, I think. There is no range on that album. I think among the more recent record, No More Shall We Part is probably the best. You get the beauty of Boatman's Call (Love Letter, Darker by the Day) and the manic intensity of some of his earlier work (Oh My Lord, Fifteen Feet...). 'Your Funeral, My Trial' is probably my all time favorite but not probably the best first record you hear from NC&BS.

If you go to his twitter page, there were many more brilliant Q & A's.
"Do you like E.T.? Shit yeah"
"How do you view the impact of drugs on your early creativity now, with the benefit of hindsight? Early period, largely positive. Middle period, more problematic. Late period, total destruction."

I also had no idea the woman on the cover of Push The Sky Away is his wife.
