I like their songs but when I saw them live... We call em volume djs at raves when they sit up there hit play on the boom box and call it a show. These guys are more into their apperance then the music. Ya listen to their music on the way to coachella and that saves ya time if your a fan of them cause there is no differnce live. When they stop playing the music kept going, Huh, Magic!? oh nope they are just adding 2 simple notes and 2 guitarist but you only hear one guitar... Magic I say!

see cocorosie tho there live>their cd like it should be!

They're playing early Sunday, so I don't think anyone is going to miss out on much if they risk watching them perform.

I enjoy listening to their music far more than watching them live as well.

:( I really hope you're wrong but it's not the first time I've heard someone say that. Damn.

"Montanita" has been kicking off my day for the last couple weeks. So euphoric...

Damn, do they really suck live? That is disappointing =\

I thought they played guitars/synths/keyboards live, with other shit on their laptops...

Well, they play their guitars. It's just not as spectacular as would be expected.

I think you saw an isolated event, Ive seen them twice and both times they were amazing, there beats come from something automated but guitar bass and drums were much more heavily emphasized live. Their show had a lot of raw power and energy that rocked the house and tripped me the fuck out.

I just saw them last weekend. They put on an excellent show. The drums and some random noises come from the keyboard, but the guitar (and double guitar), bass and keyboard are played manually. I really enjoy their albums and their live show does their albums justice. I can see problems arising though at coachella. I saw them in a very small club on a very small stage. I dont know if its going to be the same at coachella. However, I am still going to watch them.

I had never heard of Ratatat before I saw them opening for the Faint last year, and all I can say is that me and everyone with me were blown away by them. Yes, the drums are pre-recorded, but the guitar, bass, and keyboards are all live. Personally, I can't wait to see them again.

I really like the song "Crisps" and "Seventeen Years" seems to be a popular one.

They were pretty damn good when opening for the Faint. I really enjoy enthusiasm when musicians perform, showing that they are actually happy to be playing for you and appreciative that people are into it. I would only say that very little of the songs are prerecorded, far more of it is live compared to some other contemporary acts.

They're playing tonight in Hollywood. I was supposed to go... guess I'm lucky to be working nights this week?

i also saw them a couple of years ago at the knitting factory in LA, small venue, dark, so they had some projected visuals going which added to their show...

seemed to me they didn't take much risks musically...though the music did sound good and much like the studio recordings.

i'll still check them out though, they bring together an interesting blend of instrumental rock, samples, beats

I saw them open for The Fain in Long Beach and they rocked my socks off.
They do make you think "Damn, that's it?" when they walk on stage, but they've got this passion when they play. Really hot.

I saw them with the faint as well.. I really enjoyed them, but it seemed that the rest of the people in my group thought they were boring.

i've seen em play before, they put on ok shows. The guitarest is good at what he does and stuff. But its nothing like crazy good.

dont ever deprive yourself of watchin a band live. its something you have to expierence for yourself to judge. dont take anyone else's word for it.

Saw 'em last night @ UCSD. Most of the show was played at about a 7, sometimes at 10 (Seventeen Years, Loud Pipes, Swisha), sometimes at 4.

They shoulda been at 11 all night.

If you find yourself on Sunday debating wether you should see Ratatat or someone else, go with the latter.

You know, I saw Fischerspooner do something similar but they brought the house down. If you're going to "just press play" on your CD, you better bring something awesome to back it up.

Yeah so I don't know what the boys ate before their show, but Ratatat at Coachella was like no other Ratatat ever before.

A very energetic show! The crowd was a great one.

I took video of 2 and a half songs. I just uploaded the 2 full song videos I took. sound quality isn't the best but you get a feel for the show for those that missed it - it was definately one of my highlights.

Enjoy!

I told everyone I was with that it will probably be a boring set and we will likely want to move on. They made me look like an idiot. I've never seen or heard them so fired up before. Very, very impressed.

Yeah, easily one of the best performances of the weekend. The crowd (and VIPs) were going NUTS.

Loved that show. I was wandering away from the Happy Mondays to find something decent when I happened upon Ratatat. AMAZING.
