probably not. If what I have heard is true, Isaac is not a fan.

Isaac is not a fan of what, Coachella, festivals in general, his own band, what? Please clarify.

Apparently festivals in general, with a special hatred for coachella. Heard that a while back on the the forums.

I think it's more that Modest Mouse just hates Goldenvoice. But what do I know...

yeah, I read awhile ago on the boards that there were a lot of disagreements between the band and Goldenvoice and the festival itself or whatever when they played in '99. Honestly, I'm just recalling what I read. I don't know if they are true or not. Modest Mouse is one of my favorite bands and I have seen them 10+ times. I would love to see them personally. I know they have new material coming out. But like I said, I'm just recalling what I read maybe a year or two ago.

Saw them at a festival in NYC over the summer that was way more processed and watered down than Coachella. Modest Mouse was great and didnt have a hint of distaste for being at a festival.

Maybe its just a Coachella thing.....or maybe its nothing?

True true! They were great at Governors Ball Festival! Dramamine -> Shit Luck -> Tiny Cities combo was amazing:) While I would love for them to play Coachella next year, I highly doubt it with other sub-headliners that Coachella will be booking. And if I was Issac, I wouldn't want to be playing right before Passion Pit, Phoenix or some shitty band that people will forget about in couple years!

the setlists they've been pulling out are much preferable to the shows i saw in 2010. hoping for a lonesome crowded west tour one of these years.

or really any concert that gets me doin' the fuckin' cockroach. they always play it the night after the show i attend.

You've never seen them do the cockroach?! I think out of 15 or so times I've seen them, they've played it at least 75% of the time! One of their best live songs for sure :thu

That's weird, I have seen them about 14 times myself and they have always played cockroach. Shit luck on the other hand, I have only seen them play that maybe twice. God damn it that song is amazing.

Well that sucks! Next time try to go both nights since they love changing their setlist:)

As much as I would love seeing them at Coachella, they are so much better headlining at a venue that they can play 20-23 songs instead of 11-14.

LOL at this, with Passion Pit actually playing on the same day and Phoenix being a headliner. Nice!

I'm excited about this set--it was a booking that pushed me over the line to buy tickets this year--but I'm worried that all the spacious, artsy noodly-ness of their early albums has been totally replaced by Isaac's bombastic cookie monster shtick, and that their live shows these days would be kind of one-dimensional as a result. I loved Good News but they lost me after that.
Are they decent when they play shows nowadays?
