I've been revisiting her albums a lot these past few days, and while she's played Coachella with The New Pornographers a few times I don't believe she's ever played as a solo artist. She's apparently been working on a new album (http://beekeepercorp.com/neko-case-summer-touring-new-album-in-the-works/) so hopefully this will be the year. Perfect mid-day (somewhere between 3 and 5PM) Outdoor music too.

Would love to see Neko at Coachella. She is one of my favorites, but I have yet to see her.

She was pretty good opening for The National at the Hollywood Bowl last year.

AFAIK, the Pornos gig in 2011 is her ONLY appearance on the polo fields. Even then, we weren't sure of her being onstage until a couple weeks prior.

Saw her do a couple new tunes back in July 2011, but she always takes her sweet time.

Fuck yes. Neko Case and Future Islands - a good ass day. I've got good vibes about this lineup. They can take all the time they want with the announcement, this is going to be a good one.

She was awesome opening for The National a couple years ago. Actually, I'm pretty sure that she is a badass all the time.

Will make a perfect Friday afternoon or sunset set on the Outdoor. Really excited for it.

Saw her at the House of Blues San Diego this past tour and she was good, but her voice was a bit messed up due to her being sick. A chance to see her at top form, minus illness? Fuck yes, sign me up.

I saw her at Bonnaroo 09 and I didn't like her set very much. I do want to see her again though because I've fallen in love with her even more since then. My guess is she had a bad day at Bonnaroo because of the humidity.

I only have Fox Confessor but that was enough to win me over. Time to play catch up.

Blacklisted which is her solo debut is her masterpiece. I've been following her from around 2002. The very first time I saw her around 2002 it was an absolute trainwreck. She played a tiny room called Nita's Hideaway it held about 100 people. It was close to sold out. She would play a song then argue with the sound guy. Start the next song and stop to argue again with the sound guy. This went on through the entire 55 minute set. She sounded fine to the audience but she couldn't hear her monitors. That was the only bad show I ever saw her perform. I've seen her about 5-6 times since then and my favorite show was her most recent at the Orpheum in Phoenix. Despite her cold she sounded fantastic. She has such a rich, classic voice. I just wish she played more Blacklisted songs live. Her latest album The Worse Things Get is excellent and probably my second favorite.

Awesome. It's silly how many of these tour date confirmations are getting me excited.

Each of her last four albums were totally ace. I think I've said this in another thread, but she's probably the most consistently under-appreciated great artist working right now.

Pretty sure I was at this show. Didn't she start really late, like 11:30 or something?

edit: also: I really really loved Nita's Hideaway. The old one, next to the motorcycle repair shop, not the bigger one they moved into and only last a few months cuz they didn't have any money and the a/c broke. So much great stuff there. Such a great atmosphere.

I want to say yes. Old Nita's and the opening band was Jim, Jenny and the Pinetops? She played again maybe 2 years later at the new Nita's opening for Calexico. That show was very good.

I honestly haven't made much time with her new album yet unfortunately but I will say that the songs from it sounded fantastic live. Neko Case to me has always been one of those artists that step up their game with every album. A lot of artists only have 1 or two good/great albums in them (if that, many have even less) but her songwriting talent just keeps on giving, album after album, just getting stronger over time. Kinda like the Arctic Monkeys. Or Weird Al.

Also, Blacklisted was her third solo album, fax. the one just before that, Furnace Room Lullaby, I think is her masterpiece, though it seems like most Neko fans have barely bothered to listen to it.

You're right. She recorded those under Neko Case and Her Boyfriends. I assumed it was a full band. Blacklisted was the first album where she dropped her boyfriends from the title. I listened to it and like it. I prefer Blacklisted to the rest of her catalog is all. That said I hadn't listened to Furnace Room Lullaby in a bit. I love that video too! Hadn't seen it before.

I've seen Neko live several times - she is a wonderful performer. Best show was in 2009 at a club in St. Louis touring for Middle Cyclone (my favorite album of hers). I don't know if she does this anymore, but she always had lots of entertaining stage banter with Kelly Hogan (her backup singer).

She would do well in one of the tents, or the outdoor stage at dusk.
