Who are some of the acts that would be in the vein of a Leonard Cohen you would want to see? Acts that have had careers for decades and would bring something different to the stage for a lot of attendees to see.

Tom Jones
Tony Bennett
Van Morrison

Are 3 that jump into my head at the moment. I know Bowie and the Talking Heads are on numerous wish lists (rightfully so ) but these three are personal faves of mine.

I saw Tony Bennett not too long ago and that guy still has an incredible singing voice and put on a great show. Not sure Coachella would take it too well, but you should try and see him if you get a chance.

I think there would be a small population that would eat this up. 9:00 Sunday at the Outdoor!

i gave up after mentioning him year after year after year.. it seemed obv to me that if he was doing his tour this year, played socal the week of chella and still wasn't invited, then gv must not dig him. he even toured with the Wheel of Costello or whatever, spin the wheel, play the song it lands on kinda thing..

oh, and what about Glenn Danzig & Friends?

How has no one said Neil Young? He has a bad ass new album w/ Crazy Horse and is killing it on tour right now. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the lineup.

menikmati
10-20-2012, 06:21 PM
I'd be down for Patti Smith. Roger McGuinn pulling double duty (err triple duty) would be cool too. I'd watch Weird Al too (though I've always pictured him playing Bonnaroo rather than Coachella, but hell who knows).

Yes. Tom Waits. Frank hung his wild years on a nail he drove through his wife's forehead. I'd sit through a day of shit music to be on the rail for Mr Waits.

yea tom waits is sooooooo overdue

weird al would be awesome. seen him a couple times and the live show is all you'd hope it would be; very funny, very entertaining. most people dont give the guy enough credit. seriously how many other "comedy" musicians have been doing the same thing so successfully for this long? i just think most people underestimate how a crowd would react to him at a "normal" show. i'm willing to bet the sidelines of the stage would be packed with members from other bands wanting to catch his set

Iggy Pop

would all be great headliners or subheadliners.. John Fogerty played the polo field in '08 or '09, subbed for The Eagles, but it was the week after Coachella at Stagecoach (it's not all bad)

How has no one mentioned Stevie Wonder?

In some ways a "waste" of a 2 hour headline slot and a 60-75 minute sub spot almost defeats the purpose of showcasing his talants/catalogue.

If GV were into giving an artist 2 hours on the outdoor, that would be a the $hit.
