It's hot.
You're thirsty.
You're nearly broke or "on a budget."
You do what you gotta do.
I spent the early part of this week drowning my "Red Sox suck" sorrows with this piss behind enemy lines.

I picked up a sixer of Bud Platinum this week just because it screams 6% ABV, was on sale, and it's "low calorie". The only problem is it tastes like absolute crap. Even worse than regular Bud. I even got one close to freezing and then tried chugging it. Sheesh. Doesn't anyone taste test this stuff before putting it on the market? Ya know, focus groups, etc?
I also got my hands on one of those pop-top Miller Lite cans. Now that is a great idea! It allows you to cannonball that sucker before you can realize the horror you've just committed.

While in Spain i drank loads of cheap lagers that were quite drinkable.
You can't walk 10 feet in Madrid without passing a Cervesaria whose one beer on tap is either Mahou or Estrella. Typically you can get a half-liter of either for 2 euro or less in any neighborhood bar, or at the store you pay like 3 euro a sixer.

When I was in the Philippines a few weeks ago I drank two types of local beer the whole time. One being San Miguel, and the other was Red Horse, which is brewed by San Miguel. San Miguel is a decent Pilsner. Very drinkable and very cheap. Definitely has more flavor than an American Pilsner and is where it should be abv wise at 5%. But The Red Horse is 7% and tastes pretty shitty.

Ahh no way you went to that? I saw that San Miguel was the main sponsor. Spain ruled the Philippines for long ass time so there is a ton of Spanish influence there. But San Miguel is actually a Filipino beer. Some Spanish dude moved there in the 1800's start brewing it and it's been a staple ever since.

Well if we're talking ONLY AMERICAN shit beer then Simpler Times, Natural Light, and Pabst would have to be my go to beers. I bought a ton of this shit from age 18-22 until I discovered good beer. Now I waste a ton of money on craft beer. But it's just so damn good.

Tecate Light is the only Mexican beer I can stand. I can't stand Dos Equis or Corona and Pacifico isn't really cheap but Tecate is a nice break from PBR which is normally my go to on a budget. I'm really upset that Pabst has become so popular at venues and urban areas it's fucking baffling to see hordes of people drinking nine dollar tall cans when you could have gotten a smaller yet decent beer or liquor for the same price.
