If I wasn't poor I'd be on this, I quite like a lot of the lineup. Feel bad for them getting hammered with negative reactions on Facebook

meyouseek
07-17-2012, 01:42 PM
Wow, the Facebook comments are brutal. I don't see this going too well.

While I find the lineup fairly acceptable... it's not worth flying to Florida and getting on a boat.

prices start at $500 a person and there are nine other price levels, going up to $9,000 a person for a “sky suite” with veranda. Prices include lodging, food and entertainment, but not transportation to Florida or bar tabs.

PT:
“It even has a half-acre of grass,” he added. “It wouldn’t be Coachella without grass.”

Something about a supposedly fun thing I'll never do again?

I could get sold on Bruise Cruise, but Pulp is far too boring to get me to pay.

The best of these looks to have been the Lucy in the Sky With Diamond Ring Tour, where Boredoms and Gang Gang Dance played on a Russian Cruise vessel in the South Pacific during a solar eclipse. Now THAT would have been worth $500 (but not the $1700 they charged.)

Mr. Fuzz
07-17-2012, 02:13 PM
They probably should've booked Frank Ocean for this thing.

Goldenvoice, the Los Angeles concert promoter behind Coachella, resisted jumping on the bandwagon until it found what Paul Tollett, its president, described as the perfect vessel: the Celebrity Silhouette, a 1,000-foot, 122,000-ton ship with room for 2,800 fans, cabana-style alcoves and a small theater that Mr. Tollett called a “mini-Royal Albert Hall.” :lips

“It even has a half-acre of grass,” :thu he added. “It wouldn’t be Coachella without grass

In some cases those encounters will be planned, like a wine tasting with Mr. Murphy.

“Some sets will be longer than usual,” Mr. Tollett said. “We don’t have a curfew.”

Quick and approximate math:

Plane tix to FL: 540
2 days hotel: 100
Ship tix: 700
On ship expenses: 350

1710 total, which means you are spending 74 dollars to see Sleigh Bells.

This cruise thing doesn't appeal to me at all. But let's be fair, Brandon. Travel expenses and spending money shouldn't be lumped into the "price per act" equation.

hawkingvsreeve
07-17-2012, 02:44 PM
Why not? It's all out of pocket money being spent on the same event.

mmsk123
07-17-2012, 02:44 PM
Why not? You have to spend that amount to go see the act on the ship no?

SoulDischarge
07-17-2012, 02:44 PM
I like to love about 85% of that lineup. But I'm probably not going on any cruises any time soon. If I had more disposable income, I would do this.

Same here. Fun Fun Fun fest is looking more likely since it's only $175 bucks.

You are paying a ticket price to see the bands and stay on the boat. The rest all depends on where you live and how much bullshit you buy. You might be paying $74 to see Sleigh Bells. Others might be paying less. Whatever. It doesn't really matter.

Mugwog
07-17-2012, 03:11 PM
Who the fuck would pay $74 to see Sleigh Bells? I'm sure we can find an "alt" girl who will scream into a mic over Korn guitar chords for an hour for less than $30 for the whole package

bmack86
07-17-2012, 03:26 PM

Question: How long until Insomniac makes their own cruise ship party?

Digitalstereo
07-17-2012, 03:40 PM
... HARD doing this, now Golden Voice. We just need Insomniac or UMF to throw their own cruise party to have a bunch of bros and hoes getting all cray on a ship and raging so hard they fall off.

Ah, Rill Rill. The one noteworthy song of theirs and they couldn't be bothered to play it in their 20 minute set.

Eh, i dont see the bro factor being as big a deal as at HARD. I'm guessing most bros would rather fist pump to Atrak than to Pulp.

There will be almost no bro. All of them think Holy Ship is the only musical cruise in the entire planet thats worthy. Give it til next year for them to get the bro crowd and theyll book Justice and Avicii.

So it will be all bro crowd because thats Pulp's main audience? You should see the comments on a lot of the edm sites who posted the story. ''wtf, this shit is weak, holy ship or nothing''.

hey supre, the "s.s." indicates it is on a boat, why the redundancy in the title motherfucker?

CAUSE ITS ON A FUCKING BOAT!!! And people still can't get it wrapped around their heads btw.

S.S. Coachella does not but anything UMF and Insomniac makes will hence the: "We just need Insomniac or UMF to throw their own cruise party to have a bunch of bros and hoes getting all cray on a ship and raging so hard they fall off."

Expect the line up to look something as follows: Benny Benassi, Afro Jack, Above and Beyond, Dada Life, some rando SHM dj, Avicii... you know the usual UMF and Insomniac shiz.

We went on a cruise for our honeymoon; our onboard expenses (just talking alcohol and a couple of excursions and a fancier upgraded dinner one night) were around $1k.

Yep.

Holy shit. Ok with 1000 bucks on top of 700-900 for a cabin plus flight to Florida, from Western Canada is like flying to frigging Australia, Cruisechella is turning into a big fat NO. I'll hold out for April.

Oh, and for those of you that have never been on a cruise before and are thinking about getting a four-person cabin...you should know that these rooms are tiny. I mean seriously small. And the bathrooms are about the size of an airplane bathroom, but with a bit of extra room for a shower. If you do this, y'all better really really like each other. You'll be eating the smell of each other's shit for days.

I'm guessing the extra long sets are probably referring to the DJs, but if we got confirmation of a 3+ hour long Hot Chip set I would strongly consider doing this.
