For those of you unfamiliar, last year:

http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?48956-Woman-Raped-at-Stagecoach-by-SECURITY

Now this year:

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012/04/28/girl-17-sexually-assaulted-inside-portable-bathroom-at-music-festival/
http://www.mydesert.com/article/20120428/NEWS08/120428002/Stagecoach-concert-attendee-sexually-assaulted?odyssey=nav|head

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted while using the restrooms at Stagecoach Festival on Friday night, police said today.

The woman was using the portable bathrooms near the main entrance about 8:30 p.m. when a man broke through the locked door.

“The male and two others began sexually assaulting her,” police spokesman Ben Guitron said.

After the assault, the men ran away and the teen went to the first aid stand, where police were called. She was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Guitron said police do not have a description of the men other than that one of the men was blond.

The teen is a non-Coachella Valley resident who was attending the festival with friends, Guitron said.

Last year, a Stagecoach parking lot attendant raped a 23-year-old festival attendee after helping her find her car.

Darin Ledale Garrett of Los Angeles was convicted in December of the April 30, 2011, rape. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Indio police asked anyone with information in the assault to call detectives at (760) 391-4057 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.

It's ironic that these rednecks get more privileges, yet this has happened twice now

hopefully these scumfucks will slip and talk about it at some point so they can get some anal in prison in the future. hoping word spreads so people are on the lookout while the fest is still going on. would also hope the police get to these guys before anyone else if they are found out at stagecoach, otherwise there may be the mother of all beatings going down.

i know it would put a damper on the mood there, but if some announcement was made to the audience maybe someone who was in that area at the time could step forward with a description.

"The country music festival was marked with significantly more arrests — a total of 57 — than the two rock music festivals that preceded it, police said. Ninety-five percent of Friday’s arrests were for drunken conduct".

People are definitely assholes at Stagecoach compared to Coachella, last year my girlfriend left early after pouring a beer on a couple of drunk cowbros who grabbed her ass.

Well, honestly... how can you reasonably expect 30,000 shitkickers to get together and not rape somebody now and then? I think it's kinda impressive that this only happens once per weekend on average.

girlfriend and i were just talking about this laying in bed last night. we said how crazy it was coachella typically goes down without much incident (considering the number of people + the number of illegal substances) and how stagecoach is probably worse with men being terrible to women.

this is just fucking gross.

The fact that a rape occurred at a music festival is sickening. Why do people get to drink anywhere at Stagecoach, but not at Coachella?

Cool.

I dont think you can place these two incidents together since last year the rapist was working in security. That could have happened at Coachella as well.

I think the beer gardens is a good idea, not the other way around. I think they should keep them for Coachella and implement them at Stagecoach at well. Unfortunately the demographic for Stagecoach-goers demands beer everywhere, all the time.

Rape in and of itself is out of my comprehension, but to plan it with your buddies? In such a public place? Not that any rape is better or worse than any other, but shit like this is just so outside my realm of understanding. How absolutely void of morality do you (and your friends!) have to be to even consider this, let alone act on it?

JustSteve

to be fair it has been called a sexual assault, not a rape. rape = sexual assault, but sexual assault ≠ rape.

Physically, yes. Psychologically, not so much.

JustSteve

just saying i can see a group of dumbfuck guys somehow thinking running up and grabbing a woman's breasts, grabbing her ass, etc. much less of an issue than forced penetration, thinking "oh this will be funny, c'mon". thinking from retarded guys pov. no idea what happened at stagecoach, but if it was a rape i am sure they would have said it was a rape, not filed under the broad spectrum of "sexual assault".

We recreate the ass to ass scene in Requiem, but on cowboys instead. One of them blonde. 10 japanese girls will be singing an acapella version of Lux Aeterna while the cycleside modified double sided dildo penetrates these dirtbags.

Ok, so I happen to go to both Coachella & Stagecoach & damn was I shocked at the difference!! I was commenting to my friend that it's definitely not fair that we cannot drink alcohol freely like they do at Stagecoach, but then after reading this, I think there might be something to it & maybe the beer garden fence @ Coachella is not a bad thing & needs to be implemented at Stagecoach. Not only was everyone completely wasted on night one but the trash it accumulated from the beer cups, it was pretty gross. I swear I felt like I was at some frat party (not that there's anything wrong with partying ;) but it was just a little too much) Funny that people think Coachella is crazy when in fact Stagecoach is probably worse, in my opinion. After going to my first Stagecoach this year, I doubt I will go back. Besides, what the fuck is up with having to pay for a "VIP" ticket to sit in the front? At Coachella, it's fair & square, first come, first served...well, this last comment should be for a different thread. Back to the point, saddens me to hear this happened while I was there, I hope next year will not add a third year of this unfortunate event happening.

^ Thanks for the comments, I went Sunday for the first time and the vibe is totally different. Not to stray off-topic but I don't think Goldenvoice really goes "all-out" for Stagecoach the way they do for Coachella. I'm pretty sure they just use Stagecoach as a cash cow. Not that Coachella isn't about making lots of money either but I would venture to say they put more heart & soul into that. Just based on their roots as a promoter/booking company.

when i did concert security, all of the worse crowds we dealt with were not the metal crowds or the hip-hop crowds, it was the country crowds. always drunk, fighting, and being so aggressive we would have to stop the beer hrs before the headliner would go on.

never will change.

part of why i'm so happy the alcohol is kept in the fenced in areas. that and imagine being in the main stage crowd and having the bro train come through, each person with at least one beer in hand, most likely spilling it on someone at some point. ive had beer spilled on me more times than i can count at various shows. it sucks.

I've wished for many people to have been raped in my lifetime. Not to worry, they were deserving of it.
