I think it's impressive that some people's "Best" albums are ones they probably haven't heard yet, but are already great based on past reputation.

Way to be objective...

Anyway, jumping on the bandwagon woth the other Neon Bible and Myth Takes lovers, I'd also like to offer up The Shins - Wincing the Night Away as a top fine gramophone recording.

Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead

2. MSTRKFRT - The Looks

3. Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future

4. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead...

5. Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone

and for the record: I think its stupid to claim albums that aren't out yet as "best of" type favorites, I would've claimed AIR, Clap Your Hands, Bloc Party and the Kaiser Chiefs, and I'd be dead wrong, because I've heard them now.

(although the Kaiser's song, Love Is Not A Competition is simply fantastic)

Yeah I know, really depends the mood I'm in of course. But I have to agree with you on LCD's new one, I basically listening to it on my way to work and back everyday now for about a week straight. They are definitely on my 'must see no matter what' list on saturday. Just hope they don't paly the same time as Cornelius, Justice, or !!! who are also on my list.

CAME OUT IN DECEMBER 06 SO CLOSE ENOUGH TRUE MAGIC

Somewhat Damaged

Arcade Fire Neon Bible - took longer than Funeral to grow on me but it's quite majestic. I really like Of Montreal's Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?, especially "The Past is a Grotesque Animal," and I may have even agreed with some that it was superior to the new Arcade Fire a few weeks back, but I now find myself enjoying Neon Bible even on repeated listens (which is rare for me).
The Decemberists' Crane Wife would have to be my favorite new CD of 2007 that wasn't released this year. Man, their set is going to be epic. And I'm really grateful that Faithless won't conflict with Bjork -- got Forever Faithless at the beginning of the year and am glad I'll get to see at least part of their set and still see all of Bjork's.
All the talk about LCD Soundsystem's new album being terrific has got me considering purchasing it this weekend. I don't find myself listening to the eponymous first album too often but I put it on the other day and was stunned that I loved every song -- why don't I play it more frequently? That and Air's Pocket Symphony are on the menu come Saturday.
Oh yeah, and Lily Allen's Alright, Still... is great fun, very enjoyable. Like Amy Winehouse, too, but the first two tracks are the only great ones, IMO.

I'm enjoying the discs that are making regular appearances in this thread (LCD, !!!, Arcade Fire, etc.), but one that I haven't seen on here yet that's pretty nifty is the debut from Nick Cave's new band, Grinderman. It's virtually indistinguishable from his work with The Bad Seeds, but I'm not complaining.

It would be great if Hawley played with him. If he did, it seems like having him play his own solo set would be an obvious addition to the Friday lineup.
