From today's Desert Sun...

INDIO — A man was stabbed about 3 p.m. Sunday in the Sahara tent at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.Medical staff at the festival rushed the man to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The man, whose name and age were not released, spoke with detectives but said he did not want any charges filed, Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said.
The victim and “the other people involved” are from Woodland Hills, Guitron said.
Police did not release further details and considered it an informational report only, not a criminal report.
Flux Pavilion & Dr. P started in the Sahara tent at 3:05 p.m.
It was a rare act of violence at the Coachella festival, although more than 100 people have been arrested or cited for alcohol and drug-related issues. One person was assaulted late Saturday, but no charges will be filed in that incident either, according to officials.

I guess it explains why the little 2 inch boy scout knife/nail file on my keychain was okay on Saturday, but confiscated yesterday. (Let me tell you, it was no easy feat trying to get that damn thing off the ring without dropping the little smoking bullet I had right in the palm of my hand either.)

We were eating lunch with someone around 3 who just came back from the front of the Sahara and said things were starting to get a little nutty when someone started waving a knife around so he got the heck out of there. I can't believe this is the end of the story.

Okay. Fuck though, this still leads me to believe that metal tent stakes being ok'd are a thing of the past.

One incident involved a man who stabbed his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend in the lower back. The victim did not want to press charges, Guitron said.

80 percent of Sunday's arrests were for alcohol-related offenses and 20 percent were drug-related.

I ended up in Lot 2A yesterday afternoon, pulling in at around/between 3:45-4:00 PM and a medical helicopter landed in the (school?) yard across from this lot. I figured the situation must be dire if they have to airlift someone out. As I gathered my stuff, 5 or 6 emergency workers pulled a gurney out of a nearby ambulance and wheeled it over, then loaded the individual on. I had just crossed Ave 50 when the chopper lifted off and flew over tent camping as it left.

I mentioned seeing this to some pals and some people who I shared a table with in the food court, but no one had heard of anything. Maybe because he had "injuries that were not life-threatening" this may not be related.

I wasnt there, but some dude slapped a member of my camp in the Sahara for no reason Saturday.
Thank god the guy backed down because he didn't seem to notice the other twenty guys next to the guy he slapped, ready to smash on the clown.

I blame it on derp step. Derp must die.

No need to worry about tent stakes. You are allowed to have a knife and anything you want really with you and your tent. They only check for what you have when you enter the show area.

So something was posted from a news outlet within the last week and I'll try to find the link but apparently the "stabber" thought the "stabee" was the new boyfriend but it turned out to be his friend so that's why no charges were filed. I think it's time for a remake of Roshoman

Came to the realization during w1 that Coachella would be so much better if they banned alcohol. This coming from someone who drinks. So many drunk douchebags who, unfortunately, are pretty much funding the festival.
