There are so many people on this board who claim that with their Laptop or Desktop, garageband, a few samples and some loops can produce better mixes than the likes of DJ's ranging from Tiesto to Girl Talk they could fill a tent for all 3 days....

Why not set up a little tent and some equipment for all these douchebags to put their money where their mouth is. I swear if i read another post that says "girl talk has no talent, and i could do that on my computer" you had better post a link to a mix that is actually better them him... even if you are better them him (which is highly unlikely) you are obviously doing something wrong because he is playing coachella and you're not!

I got a link for you. D.J.Heather in the sahara tent.
Idiot.

Get this straight, tardo, nobody's seriously claiming that they are better than the coachella acts, just that some don't possess anything special relative to the rest of the coachella acts, or the genre in general.

Point out where anyone is saying they are "better" than girl talk, douche. All I've seen is some people claim is that he's not worth spending money on. Other's claimed that his mashups are not that big a deal. I've claimed all of those, but never claimed that I deserve to be in girl talk's spot. All I'll claim is that someone else better than he does deserves to be there. This is a fucking message board, genius, not a gladiator pit. According to your the qualification for talking shit is that you have to be better than a world famous act? There is such a thing as being over-hyped, dickschvitz.

Take self-righteous fish twat self and screw.

i actually got sick of my friends jacking off girl talk and they got sick of me saying "I COULD DO THIS SHIT!!!" so I made a 20 minute mashup thing like he does.

it took me 2 days, and i went to work / school both of those days, and on the second day while I was working on it I was drunk as fuck. and it's still not bad, for a mashup mix. i need one of my friends to send it to me but i will up it if he does.

haha well i was burned...

Trick loves the kids that was pretty good especially given the circumstances!
i guess if i could make a mashup like that i would probably be choked that he got a coachella spot too. but really people want to see him and coachella wants to pay him money, so obviously there is something there. I still think girl talk will be fun...

-i knew i had been quoted, but in light of the harsh feeback i felt i should acknowledge my defeat!

I may as well put something up here as well. I was still up a while ago so decided to screw around and scan my HD for cheesy shit to mash up.
I started putting some crap together but ran out of steam. The first half is me fucking around and the last half is just a straight up acapella of Busta's Touch It. I lost the work I had done trying to remix it a while ago so I spent an hour warping it again and I'm tired now. The beats under the O'Jay's bassline are my own. I was cracking myself up making this, but I may as well clown myself as long as I put in the effort. I only wish I had time to find even cheesier shit. I did my best

I liked Trick's little schtick of putting some goofy intro at the start so I straight up copied him and did a little goofy shit myself.

Again, the last half is a just a straight up acapella laid over a loop. I spent an hour tweaking warp markers on it so fuck it. I left it in.

2 Many DJ's has way better mash-ups.. but we got Soulwax this year... so it's all good.

I got nothing against girl talk.. I probably am going to try and catch him/them?

definitely, soulwax is one of my must-see acts. i'm actually surprised that not too many people are talking about them on this board. i just wish they were playing on friday or saturday, cause by sunday night i will be worn out.

the end was a remix idea I was working on that I put on sporkmix6. I lost the work I'd done and tried to start again. I tacked it on and spent too long warping busta's lyrics and gave up on trying to chop it up.

they're not DJing

and I never really got in to 2manydjs. it's really well done but there's something about it that never jived with me.

the robot rock/intergalactic part of tricks mix is sick. wish it lasted longer. thats my problem with girl talk too, nothing lasts long enough. its like 10 seconds then switch!

well, soulwax nite versions is a hybrid act....kind of like a cross between soulwax (the band) and 2 many djs. while they may not be djing in the traditional sense, it is going to be a huge party. have you listened to Soulwax Nite Versions (the album)? It's freaking amazing.

crazzz2007
03-29-2007, 11:54 PM
you should definitely listen to nite versions before you see them. it's basically a remix of their album Any Minute Now, with some daft punk thrown in. actually, the style of nite versions reminds me a lot of daft punk's coachella set last year.

Thats not bad but the transitions are way too abrupt and they dont blend well. I guess that's what seperates the pros from the rookies. Hence why they have sold tons of records and are paid to play at Coachella.

or it could be the fact that girl talk probably spent months and months on his album and is likely letting it fire uninterupted when playing it live.

i can't believe i'm even posting, as this has gone on far too long. anyone who has seen girl talk in the past year can let you know that his live sets are not night ripper uninterupted. he does a whole bunch of new remixes and remixes of stuff from night ripper. it's mostly new stuff, all layered and mixed in real time. watch him when he leaves the computer, the same thing keeps looping over and over. people are up on stage at every one of his shows and can attest to the fact that he's actually up there doing it. sure, there are automatic time-stretching aspects of the software, who cares? we've gone over this way too much already

i'm really not trying to start another argument on here. but anyone who thinks that Trick Loves the Kids mix is good (even for making it in 8 hours), you have no credibility to me any longer.

can we give this all a rest?

I didn't mean to suggest that he's just playing his album bit for bit. I'm saying he may have a routine that he set up and is just using that routine uninterrupted, and that he's not doing much on stage

of course I don't believe he's just pressing play on his album.

ah, sorry, misinterpreted your comments. i think you're totally right. i don't think girl talk claims to improvise much live on stage.

i know i said it before, but i'm pretty sure daft punk was rocking abelton live at coachella. very similiar deal, with a routine set and they follow through the routine. not that there's anything wrong with that.

it's like band having a set-list, practicing it, and then performing it

and occasionally girl talk does a little more than click the mouse...

i completely agree with both of you, that mix does really suck, but i did it for fun to see if i could in, again, two days. i wouldn't listen to it. it wasn't even particularly hard to make, i could probably teach anybody with even a small background in digital music to do that in about a day. however:

Anyone can make a mashup in 30 seconds but that record took me-- outside of collecting the samples-- at least a year of putting everything together.

please believe if i spent a year on a 40 minute mashup album it would be "pro"

I hope I'm the one being refered to as "tardo". Now thats funny. I haven't heard that word used since 6th grade. Also, "douche" is pretty good, but "dickschvitz" takes the cake.
Come on, jack! You took the bait once again. The proposition to set up an area to prove you can hang was obviously used to prove a point. I GET IT! It's just fun to rile up your feathers.
And this is a got-damn gladiator pit!
