Yo so I just saw the tent I have is 12' by 10'. The car camping space is 10' by 30'. I assume I should be fine with a tent that is exactly 10' wide or whatnot....RIGHT? Also, I drive a small car (Honda Fit) so hopefully there should be enough room for that. (30'-12'=18'=roughly 5' longer than my car. OK.)

you will be fine. your tie downs will stretch into your neighbor's spots, but so will theirs...
My 8 person tent is 17x10 & i've used it since 2007 no probs. The trick is to stake that bad boy down ASAP just in case your neighbors try to creep into your space.

actually the trick is to not be a territorial asshole and make nice with your camp buddies.

just sayin, sometimes in the rush to setup camp (at 3am as I have been the past few years), it's hard to get your neighbor to move their slightly larger than 10 foot wide tent over & if your neighbor on the other side already staked down, now you are screwed. Depends entirely on everyone's attitude of course. I'm always helping people setup, sharing my lanterns, rubber mallet etc..handing out beers, so not much to worry about anymore...just know what to expect.

Any stakes or ropes crossing into my camp will be melted .

Just saying! Be respectful and don't fuck it up.

I brought a 12'x12' EZ up last year and my neighbors were happy for the extra shade =)

i guess i've just never had this issue ever. almost nobody cares unless you're like obviously crowding into their space. most people welcome the additional shade opportunities anyway.

I guarantee if you being a 15x15 tent next to me, you aren't going to be using my space to set it up.

It's cool bro no worries....

Soon as you leave a mysterious wind storm crushes your canopy and only your canopy. Wild

all right so I got worried about the 15x15 so I bought a 10X10 just to be safe. Ill bring both.. If my neighbors want the extra shade ill put up the 15x15 and if not 10x10 it will be.

By all means bring a 15X15" canopy! The more shade the better. I don't see your neighbors bitching about that. If there canopy doesn't fit, slide it over, and so on. MORE SHADE!

15x15 is an odd size and will end up with legs right in the middle of someone space or your space

15x15 might be doable if you know your neighbors on both sides AND they are not also bringing something that also has a width of 10 feet or wider also. You may get lucky...maybe not.

15x15 canopy. For some reason I thought the tent convo shifted to canopies.

The 15x15 is a really odd size. It is such a great canopy though! it has air vents it worked great in tent camping only for 2010..

Ill bring it just in case and Ill also bring the 10x10 so we have options. I gotta have options!
