Not necessarily the best (although there's gotta be some overlap), but what are the bands you never would have seen if it weren't for Coachella?

1.Throbbing Gristle
2.Bauhaus
3.The Evens
4.Wolf Eyes
5.The Jesus and Mary Chain

Bonus points for Paul McCartney and Roger Waters, who I wouldn't have paid exorbitants amounts to see on their own, but who were totally worth it.

Closest ever thing to a Sly & Family Stone reunion since 1971/2. 4 of the 7 members including Sly, doesn't matter if it was godawful I had to see all of it.

Prince
Paul McCartney
Robyn
Gorillaz (agreeing with Lynn163 about what amounts to the closest one will ever get to a Clash reunion)
John Waters (because that was out of the blue, but totally worth it)
Tony Wilson (giving the best introduction anyone could ever hope to get, which is unfortunate, because it was to a sloppy Happy Mondays set)
Faith No More
Duran Duran

Seriously, and thanks Coachella for it. I live in LA and have a clear shot at most any artist you can think of in the given range of just about any year, so the fact I had a great stage position for a 3 hour McCartney set? The kind of stuff I will remember into old age. The only other one that might be close to the, "who saw that coming?" is ATDI this year.

Dwight Yoakam was an odd thing, I'll tell you what.
Leonard Cohen was a-mazing, never thought we'd get him at Coachella.
Linton Kwesi Johnson speaking his songs without a band, wasn't aware he was still with us.
John Waters was kooky, quirky fun!
