Not sure if the same rule applies to the campgrounds but on the "venue do's and don't's" that they don't allow flags.

2 8ft. PVC pipes (1 inch diameter is fine) with a cross connector to join them. Zip tie to a pole on your EZ-Up and stake it down with string through the cross connector.

Make sure you try assembling the flag beforehand. Last year I used a couple of 8 ft sections of PVC pipe and it wound up being too tall and flimsy and wouldn't stay upright even after I zip-tied it to my easy up. Probably would have been fine if I took a foot or so off each section but I didn't bring a saw with me. Also, I concluded that since the campground layout is very organized with street names, etc, that a flag wasn't as necessary as it might be at other music festivals. I'm not bringing one this year.

I used a telepole for cleaning a swimming pool last year and it worked great. just zip tied it to my ez up and was good to go. here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Anodized-Telescopic-Poles-Piece/dp/B005P4T4WQ/ref=sr_1_54?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1330988775&sr=1-54

at bonnaroo we used one of our tent poles (the pole for the rain cover if your tent has one.. it doesn't rain in southern California anyways right? like said above, zip tied to ez-up.

The telescoping poles used for painting ceilings work good, much sturdier than pvc. Even better the longer versions used to clean pools.

I was thinking of using a rebar base and pvc. Whats the highest you could go without problems?

Only one way to find out. Youll need some support higher up from the ground too though. Attach it to a corner of an EZUP or something.

The one I have is 70 (Goat bought it) and it is worth it if you are gonna use it more than a few times. It holds up 2 flags, is adjustable/collapsible, thin, really durable, and looks nice. It's about 30' tall. Using 30' of PCV pipe would be annoying and take up too much space.

doesn't apply to the campgrounds. flags are one of the easiest ways to identify campsites from a distance.
